Fire Safety

Do you think about fire safety on a regular basis? I was driving to work this morning when around the corner from me in my little subdivision i saw an end unit townhouse completely gutted from a fire apparently which occured last night. It was a terrifying sight. My 6 yr old son saw it and gasped.

I inspect foster homes for the State of Illinois. Part of my job is making sure that there are no fire hazards and to ensure that the family has an appropriate evacuation plan and that it is practiced (aka Fire Drills) at least quarterly.

How many of you have a plan for evacuating in case of emergency? And if you do, is everyone inthe home made aware of what to do? This includes children especially.

How many of you have working smoke detectors on every level of your home and most importantly right outside the bedrooms? How many of you check your detector monthly to ensure that it is in working condiiton? And how many of you change the batteries at least twice a year>?

Something to think about.

i used to be all about it but fuckers pulls the fire alarm on a bi weekley basis and i get lazy and assume its nothing...

main thing for a family is have a plan where to meet up..ie across the street at mail box or etc..


i need a smoke D that actually works...smoke that place up and never goes off..
