Fingers got tingly with tri injection......

I just tried a tri injection, I only had 23g 1 1/2 pins so I cut the cap to 3/4", when I slid the needle in, it was fine till the last 1/4" or so then it felt like I hit a nerve or something because the skin "jumped" and I got a tingly sensation down my arm, so I was nervous to inject and hit the pec instead. Is that normal or did I hit something? Should the needle be no longer than 1/2", my tri's are not to big?? I would like to be able to use them since they are easy to do but that kinda made me nervous. How should I best do this???

Could it be a nerve, or the that I buried a 3/4" pin too deep where the maybe wasn't enough muscle? I would like to use tri's, but now I am kinda afraid. Is there any major cautions areas in the outer tricep head to watch out for such as major nerves, arteries etc?
