My bro is doing test e 250mg/week for 10 weeks. he is worried about his hair. he is my half-bro and is more inclined to be affected by mpb.
How much Finasteride should he take and how often.
how long should he take it? All the way through PCT or until PCT? Or even start it before the cycle?

I'm not an expert with finasteride, but you can start him off with 2.5mgs ED and go from there.

Did a little research, finasteride half-life is about 4.8 hours, so you would need to take it 2x/day split the dosages into AM and early PM. I would run it for the 12 weeks. I will have to do a bit more research on the product, which I'm doing now.

Nearly of the earlier posts point to having to have it build up for a couple of months before starting as it takes a while to take effect.

Usually, Propecia (finasteride) comes in dosages of 1mg per pill, and one pill a day is sufficient to treat MBP. Proscar comes in 5 mg pills, however 1 mg a day is still recommended to treat such thing. However, this dose is recommended for people who's not doing AAS.

And depending in the AAS used during the cycle, I'd run finasteride for at least 3 more weeks beyond the last shot.

I take it daily, 1mg daily and have read a lot about it on mpb sites and noone was taking more than 2mg daily. I have read about a lot of guys taking proscar(generic form of) and it comes in a 5mg tab. It is usually cut into 4 pieces and you end up with 1.25mg daily. Some guys had taken it 5mg daily and the best I remember there were some pretty nasty sides. There have been LOTS of studies at 1 and 2 mg and very few sides associated with that dosage. I dont know too much about anything but I would start it several months before cycle and continue throughout cycle and after. Why stop after cycle if he is mpb prone anyway. This drug CAN help regrow some hair but is taken by most to Maintain the follicles that still remain. To grow back dormant hair is a bonus. When I started, I was told by my dr to take it continually for at least 4 to 6 months to see if I had any thickening of my hair. I luckily responded well and even my barber noticed that my hair was thicker. I just told him I was on vitamins etc... Noones business but mine.

Long story short, I would start it now and wait a few months before starting cycle. I would continue to take it as long as I could afford it. Proscar is available at all US pharmacys and is A LOT less expensive. Just buy a pill cutter for 6 dollars and he will be good to go. A Good bro to pm and ask about this is Riverrock. He has had a hair transplant and is on this drug right now. He is well informed about it. Hope this helps your bro out.

2.5mgs split into 2x/day. I've talked to a client of mine about this who is a regular finasteride user, he's taking 3mgs, 1.5mgs at 8am and 1.5mgs at 2 pm. He's doing well with it. He's running 800mgs of test enan right now and 600mgs of primo, no hair problems.

Would it be better to take the generic version am and pm as well. As I am only taking 1mg am per day. With test would it be better to as the guys mentioned increase it for the 'on' duration.

exactly what X said. The halflife for Fina is really short, so dual doses need to be taken daily in order to reach any effective results.

Gettin confused now. I am on Finpecia, made in India (generic version). Even though it contains the exact same chemical as Propecia (1mg of finasteride).

Fincar is made in India. Even though it contains the exact same chemical as Proscar (5mg of finasteride).

Now is it the fincar that needs to be taken x2 daily or both of them, or is it that the one I am taking is just weaker. Cheers

finasteride for the treatment of BPH(5mg) and MPB(1mg) is effective at a once a day dose. Plasma and local tisue levels of DHT remain supressed even after missed dosages. Levels of finasteride remain in therapeutic levels as well. again kinetics can depend on various disease processes, activity level, age, circulation etc. Just stick to one a day.

I read somewhere that you shouldent take finasteride when on Deca. Is there any validity to this?

yes that is true, you wont want to take deca with the propecia or whatever generic version of that. I read about it and cant remember why but I do remember not to take it. Bump to top for a more scientific answer to your question.

Yeah, the time I read about that propecia and deca shouldent be taken together dident have any explanation, so I hope someone can shed some more light on this?
