Finasteride dosage?

Okay, I'm shedding a little more than I'd like to be these days... noticing a little shedding around the usual MPB areas and it's freaking me out.

The thing that worries me is, is the 'recommended' dosage of finasteride likely to cause sexual sides? Should I cut this dosage in half to avoid that and for at least some protection?

What do you guys use for hair issues like this (orals, topicals, injects, whatever!)? I've just noticed the excess shedding the last couple of months and I want to get on this early so I can save what I got.

Any suggestions bros?

1 or 2 hairs ???don't panic...humans have sheddings thats normal...but if you want to be sure ..wash your hair with nizoral shampoo,use some spirolactone cream and if necessary 1mg finasteride ED...pump up that dose while on a cycle.
it's normal to lose 50à 100 hairs a day...

Proscar 5mg taken daily seems to do the trick. Inhibits DHT formation.

I would start off with 1.25 mg and go from there. Starting at 5mg will be unnecesary and likely to cause sides.

You can't be serious about that much can you? I thought that dose was for people with enlarged prostates.

Not loosing a few hairs. I'd suspect youll experiences major debate over this dose.

5mg is alot. I was at 1.25 for 3 yrs. It stopped or slowed down my hairloss. However, I felt like shit and it lowered my libido, lost muscle, and strength.I got tested and it had shut my dht down to almost 0. I quit about 4 months ago and I'm feeling better now. But, I'm losing hair like crazy now. So, I got niz 2% and I'm looking into spiro.

i wouldn't so quick to blame proscar for whatever problems you're having. I know almost no one who's experienced sides with proscar. I'd take careful look at "other" supplements you're taking that might be the cause. Proscar is a freakin' wonder drug for roids users. Lot less baldy muslce people out there now.

As you know proscar lowers DHT. Dht is very important to males. It affects strength, sex drive, etc. If dht is lowered too much it will give you the same symptoms of low testosterone.

My Dr. specializes in HRT. He said many of his patients felt the same sides as me. In fact, when I first met him and talked about my symptoms. The first thing he asked me if I was on proscar.

You are right not all people experience this. But, I just want everyone to be carefull. And, your friends who take it might feel more of the sides when they get older. (Most people feel the lower dht ast there test levels go down.)

My HRT Dr had it done on the first lab I guess it is important for him to figure out what is wrong. This is everthing he had tested. PM me w/any questions.

What AAS were you taking? Some you can do little about, others the finisteride will work fine, e.g., if you were running test. If it's a DHT or nor-DHT derivitive, you will be able to do very little to fight it with finisteride because finisteride blocks the enzyme that reduces test to DHT. In that case I would use a shampoo that blocks DHT from attaching to the hair follicle, the names escape me just now.

Just 0.5mg of Dutasteride (Avodart) outperforms 5mg of Finasteride. (5 tabs of propecia). I've used Avodart probably for a year or so.. with excellent results.. And NO SIDES! Avodart blocks both 2 types of 5-alpha-reductase enzymes while Finasteride only blocks one.

As I said. I've seen great results with it.. I've used Finasteride for probably 4 years or more before I heard about Avodart. But Avodart is not for the savvy ones that's for sure.

The real problem is figuring out how to convince my insurance company to pay for it. At 105$/month , I would rather fork out the 5k for implants.

Agreed, transplants changed my life. The entire front of my head is transplants, so the will never fall out. I had one session in the crown. I'm trying niz, spiro, etc. to keep the rest of my crown. If I can't 1 more session should have me set for life. (maybe 2)

I've been ordering from this online pharmacy in India for about a year now.. www.medicinedrugstore.com ...they sell finasteride (read propcia) for a hell of lot cheaper than you'll find it here ($45 for 240 days worth (if you cut the pills into 1.25mg chunks)).

Shipping takes just over 2 weeks - but I haven't heard of anyone having any problems.

BTW, libido isnt' the only concern when taking this stuff...the oils that this stuff blocks are also one of the primary carriers of pheromones in the body - so not only can it affect your ability to want sex, it may affect your ability to get sex.

Anyone know of any ways to counterbalance the sides when it comes to these drugs??

it looks like a .625mg dosage of finasteride every day will give you all the benefits w/ a lot less chance of the sides...I have the 5mg pills right now, I'm gonna try to cut them into eights without making a bunch of powder.
