Who thinks that there should be some serious restrictions as to which country gets aid, financial or otherwise, as a result of disasters or other causes?
I see stories on the news now of survivors of the earthquake in Pakistan who are in need of shelter due to the winter. Where is their own government? And before someone says that this is a very poor country, they seem to have plenty of money to wage an ongoing war with India and they also seem to have plenty of money to carry out numerous undergound nuclear testing -- no doubt this was good for the fault lines in the region. So if they have money to waste on things like this then surely then can afford to buy a winterized tent for these people who refuse to come down from the higher elevations in the mountains.
Countries like this constantly criticize America for not giving enough but when America steps up and gives them all they could want they are met with the usual response 'We will take all your money, we will take all your food, we will take all your medicine -- but get your people the hell out of our country or we will kill them.'
If you can't afford to look after your own people then step aside and let someone else do it and if you are not prepared to do that then stop asking for help and don't expect people to come to your aid if you are going to waste your financial resouces on everything but your own people. This goes for North Korea, too. Stop building missiles and start feeding your own people and buy yourself a decent diesel generator so you can power your homes.
