The coffee filter is the first filtering you do, the reason for it is to filter all the binder out so don't clog the needle filter or what ever its called. some people just suck the oil off the off the top and throw the sludge away. but you get more band for the buck if you use the coffee filter to filter the sludge, than filter the reguler way. i hope that makes since.
