Fight Night Champion

Fight Night Champion came out yesterday, and so far I like it. The last Fight Night game I played was Round 2, which came out in like 2004, so it's been a while since I've played a boxing game. This is the first EASports game that's rated M. There's a story campaign mode which is pretty neat for a sports game. You get to beat up white supremacists in prison and punch them in the dick repeatedly. I actually laughed my ass off at one of the knockouts I got on one of the crackas, it looked awesome. There's lots of F bombs in the story, probably even more than GTA.

Anyway, it's a pretty good game. Also, to get revenge for my Aryan brothers getting beat up in prison, I made Adolf for the lulz. You can upload pictures and the game will try to generate the face for you. I didn't have to do much tweaking at all, and it came out quite good.

LOL, fucking imageshack.

Jiggs, the full game is better than the demo. The punching reaction was slow and laggy as shit in the demo, and it's not like that in the full game.
 
Just played my first fight online. The guy was like "HOLY SHIT IT'S HITLER!" I knocked him out in the 5th round. I'm going to get lots of enjoyment out of people's reactions over my boxer. I'm probably going to get banned LOL.

i've got the demo..played it once and thought it was alright. i need a couple more fights to decide if i want to buy it.
 
Pretty much. When you upload pictures, it just draws whatever it sees. You could literally draw a smiley face and upload it, and there would be a nice circle with eyes and a mouth superimposed on the 3d model in the game. It's actually pretty shitty. I'm surprised Hitler looks as good as he does. I've already gotten messages calling me a fucking nazi. LOLOL I love trolling.
 
So I've logged enough hours in the game now to have a good idea of what the game is like. So far, I've enjoyed the offline campaign, but Online fights are completely fucked. I started out 2-8, and couldn't figure out WTF the problem was. Then I found the secret. You have punch ratings for each punch. At certain points of leveling up a punch, you get certain bonuses. The first one is a chance of getting a minor stun with each hit, going all the way up to a 1 punch flash KO. The problem is, when you get a punch all the way up, it also increases the chance you'll get a stun.

Basically, the strategy is to build up one punch. I chose the straight. I literally got 16 KOs in the 1st or 2nd rounds in a row by getting close, doing a perfect block, then stepping out and landing a counter straight. One fight I got the stun on the very first punch of the fight.. He gets knocked down, gets back up, and on the very next counter, I knock him down again. All within the first 30 seconds of the fight.

Now, I've watched tons of boxing matches on youtube, and every once in a blue moon this happens, but it's because the other fighter fucking blows and doesn't know how to move his head. In the game this happens every single time just by timing a perfect block to open up a seemingly infinite counter window time. It's very stupid. I actually had to apologize to one guy because I felt bad that the game fucked him over so bad.

One of my losses after I figured this out was something I've never seen in real boxing. I already had 2 KDs on the guy, and just stunned him to finish the fight with the 3rd. I get him nearly all the way down on this health, but he recovers. I have him backed up against the corner, beating the fuck out of him. Somehow, I don't trigger another stun, and he punches me one time for a flash KO. If you're getting fist fucked against the ropes, there's no way you'd have the balance or power to knock a guy out with one punch. I fucking raged.

Anyway, it's a decent game if you like doing offline campaigns in sports titles. I've never liked playing sports games online, too many cheap tactics and cheeser bullshit for me to enjoy it. Mind you, I'm winning the vast majority of my fights and I don't like it.

Here's some more thoughts. The ratings do not matter in this game. Oh sure, they matter to an extent, a 5 rated chin will get KTFO a lot more than a 20 rated chin (max), but overall it doesn't matter that much. I just had a fight where I picked Sonny Liston and he picked Roy Jones Jr. Liston is rated an 82 (BS in it's own right) and Jones is a 93. Liston has an 84" reach and Jones a 74". Liston's straight is rated a 20, but everything else is just average. I completely destroyed Jones in the first 2 rounds. I stunned him 3-4 times with counter straights, and got the KO in the 2nd. Granted, the guy I was fighting sucked ass, but don't rate a fighter significantly lower if it doesn't mean anything. Basically, if you can block well, it doesn't matter what any of your ratings are. You can take Butterbean and beat pretty much any fighter except for Ali or Tyson if you know how to block well.
 
Just picked this up. Played legacy for an hour or two. Created my own mongoloid looking boxer.

I like it so far....especially since I just got my first KO on a ngr.
