Frisky said:gimme an idea of the what the flavor is. Most out of state come up with some weird name for sauces and such.
theoak01 said:its like a hot but sweet mustard type sauce, they put it on wings up here, but they wont give out the recipe for obvious reasons
Frisky said:ahhh
lemme see if I can find it
Its prolly a sweet and sour mustard sauce (not really a cajun sauce though) But I bet I can find it for you.
I have a recipe at home for wings and sauces, Not really hard to prepare at all. Esp if you marinate the wings before hand. I'll pm you in a bit.
Frisky said:K... don't know what they are doing but try this one!
SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN WINGS
Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings Ingredients:
2 1/2 lb chicken wings with tips removed
1/3 cup Crisco
1/3 cup vinegar
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 (12 oz) can unsweetened pineapple juice
3/4 cup catsup
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp prepared mustard
1/8 tsp salt (optional)
Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings Method:
Brown wings in hot Crisco, adding more, if necessary. Remove wings as they brown. Drain drippings from skillet. Add vinegar, sugar, juice, catsup, soy sauce, mustard, and salt to skillet. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Simmer gently about 5 minutes. Add browned chicken wings. Cover skillet. Simmer 15 minutes. Turn wings and cook uncovered 15 minutes longer. Serve with rice.
That sounds good, I'll have to try that. I am still waiting for my pm recipes!Frisky said:K... don't know what they are doing but try this one!

Oh I have a wonder crawfish dip I can share that everyone just loves! Makes allot and is very fattening so I usually only make for parties. Best part is it is one of those recipes you have to make day before because it has to be cold. So yummy even when I subsitute everything with fat free or light ingredients. Let me know if interested.
theoak01 said:thanks frisk, that looks fricken great, what do you think I can add if I want some more spice to that,I love hot food.
ksharp,Id like to see that crawfish dip, even though we dont got it here id like to put it on fish

I have one that is amazing, a crawfish casserole that will blow your mind. Seriously. Also a spinach dip, that is amazing. Have a homeaid bread recipe that I need to start baking with again and a Red Velvett cake that is drop dead delicious!

Frisky said:can you get slap ya mamma? its a local thing down here, not sure how wide spread they are.. but damn good spice!
KSHARP01 said:The 1st time I bought it I bought it in New Orleans because the name was funny and wanted to show people but now they sell it at the local Wal-mart!! It is good. I think it may actually be better than Tony's since Tony's has more salt than I care for. If slap yo mamma has as much salt for some reason I can't taste it AS much.
Frisky said:gosh... Ksharp, I have this trendy little cookbook that is cajun made i purchased it about 10 years ago thru a church and all the recipe are from members there, it was a function to raise money for the church. Its all down home cajun style cooking. If you send me your addy I will send you a copy of every recipe in that book.
You want CAJUN? there is no other cajun than this. Some very old school cajun cooking. Stuffy my granny would make!
