You know what the toughest part about summers in Phoenix is? It's coming out to your car after it's been baking in the sun all day. The steering wheel and shift are often too hot to touch until the AC kicks in, and leather/vynil seats are out completely.
So what's more valuable than gold here? More precious than diamonds? That's right, covered parking. It's like cigarettes in prison; people pay up the ass to get it.
My four-story bldg sits adjascent to a four-story parking garage. For a measly $35 per month, you can avoid the afternoon hot seat and leave your car in shade and security. But guess what the fullest floor on the parking garage is? The top floor, which is completely uncovered. Why you ask? It's because fat America would rather let their cars literally roast in the sun all day than park one floor lower and climb one fucking flight of stairs!!!
I see these overweight bohemoths waddle out to their frying pans on a daily basis, while I scurry down to the first floor where my truck is, well, hardly cool, but at least comfortable enough to drive in.
I see things like this and I also read reports about how America's kids don't play outside anymore with the advent of video games. Their diets get crappier and they become more sedentary with each passing year.
Will this get worse before it gets better? I think it will.
