Face is red and swollen.

I'm getting ready to start my 3rd week of sust @ 550mg/ew. My face is red and swollen and my eyes are blood shot. I'm assuming it's water retention, should I take something for this or just ride it out?

That sounds like blood pressure or possible lack of sleep with the blood shot eyes.

Sodium in your diet can cause this or other possible problems. I would add Vitamin C at 2-3 grams, potassium at 3 grams ED, 2 tbsp. of glycerin AM and PM, and some dandelion root as a start. Start cutting sodium out of your diet.

I've mentioned before that I'm cutting and I'm on a CKD currently. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to switch to the ANPB diet?

I don't know your whole CKD. You might be using a lot of fat-based products which have sodium in them.

Can you post your diet?

Do you really think sodium is going to make his face (only) blow up? What about the blookshot eyes? Sodium is not causing that.

I do not know enough to say what it is but could it be a reaction to the gear?

High sodium diet = water retention (bloat) = blood pressure problems.

Bloodshot eyes could be anything, even a lack of sleep. I have blood shot eyes every other day from lack of sleep myself.

It is a possible bad reaction to gear, I would not rule all possibilities out, but I look at the most obvious first.

I know test has been known to help lower bp so I wouldn't hink it would be the test. I can't think of anything else other than diet that it would be. It's only been going on for about four days now but It is much worse about an hour PWO.

Polycythemia fits the description but I know it is very rare for someone under 40 to have it and I'm 31. I guess I'll just try to eliminate one thing at a time.

You can get high BP on test, via increase in estrogen thru aromatization. However, from talking to you, you seem to be taking in a LOT of sodium, I would first look at this problem.

I've also been eating a ton of meat high in sodium and nitrates because they're easy to grab on the run. Thats why I think X may be on the right track.

Can you switch to low sodium foods? That's something you will need to do. :coffee:

Don't let your age trick you into thinking it can't happen. I've had elevated H & H since I was 18. You are symptomatic of polycythemia or even possibly pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Changing my diet tomorrow. I will have soe of the other things checked as well. Not sure about the polycythemia because I'm anemic and that would be a huge change in a very short period of time.

If you're anemic, did you consult with your doctor before switching up diets? You might want to consider it. I don't want to see you jumping into anything or sticking to something, unless we are sure it's not going to effect your health.

Pre-exsisting anemia is something you might want to mention at the get go. So now I'm guessing the anemia has been left untreated also. At this juncture it might be prudent to consult a practioner for a complete work-up. Just my 2 cents....

I've had the anemia under control for better than 15 years. I actually always check with friends and family in the medical field before switching diets.

Ok good...let's start with your sodium intake right now.

I think your right on. I hadn't thought about it my dad started having the same problems with high sodium meats at about my age (especially pork). I really think that may be the culprit after I think about it. I'll lower the sodium intake and let you know how that goes over the next few days. Thanks for all the input bros.

Check your bp at least 3 times a day for the next couple of days to see if it is elevated. If it is, it can cause blood shot eyes due to the fact that your eyes are so vascular. Be careful taking to much potassium and cutting out to much sodium as it can throw off your bodys sodium potassium pump and send you into a heart attack. go to the dr. and have him draw a serum electrolyte panal to see where your levels are. you may need a diruetic that is more geared for bp probs. such as hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ).
