Is powder protein good after being expired for over a year.

Nope.
The listed expiry date is usually several months prior to the actual expiry date just to be on the safe side. After that, it's use at your own risk. Remember that protein powders contain organic compounds (ie: milk solids, egg albumen, etc.).
The bigger question is how a bodybuilder managed to let a container of protein powder go unused for over a year? Are you sure you're a bodybuilder

not my protein. It's my brothers and he offered it to me so I wanted to know if it was safe or not.

I can concor that one,
acutally a lot of protein powders are still quality well after their expirery date.
just make sure it never gets damp and stays cool and dry air tight
