Every single man, woman and child gives $13.70 to cotton producers so that they can flood the world markets and keep prices artificially low. You don't get anything in return because the manufacturers of clothing products build the subsidies into their pricing.

the thing is, we do this with a lot of our agricultural products. Like wheat and corn. That's why third world countries have a hard time getting out of the rut they are in. most of them can only produce agricultural goods, and they can't do it as well as they do. So basically they get fucked. It's too bad.
