Exactly. You already know what the person is really like so there's none of that pretending to be another person to try and impress them bs. All 3 of my relationships have been friends first. First one started when I was 16-19, then the next for 6 months then the present for 3 years.

Dating a long time friend has advantages and disadvantages.

pros: you're friends, relaxed around each other, know each other well, get along good together, and others.....

cons: if you break up, you risk loosing that friend. Plus if you two share other friendships it really puts a strain on those because to them it's kinda like taking sides.

Are you possibly looking for someone to spend your life with? If so, a good friend is a good headstart. Regardless, you still run the risk of screwing things up.
