Ever Broken Your Hand?

I think I may have broken a bone in my hand/wrist. The problem is, there is absolutely NO swelling? Is this normal? Can you have a broken bone with no swelling?

from what I recall when I broke my foot pretty badly, they said that sprains swell a lot do to internal bruising, whereas a break rarely swells at all unless tissue is damaged along with the break.

I've broken several bones in my hands...I had gads of swelling. The contusion that caused the break should damage the surrounding tissues as well.

I had a Boxers fracture on my right hand connection to the Small finger..
Tons O Swelling and cracking noises when moved...

You should have seem me shifing a Manual trans on the way to the Dr...

Funny you should say that. That's one of the things that hurts most. I can't shift my car, turn a doorknob, do any pressing exercises, or bear any weight without pain. But other than that, it doesn't hurt at all. It doesn't hurt to shake hands or type or even swing a baseball bat. The thing is it happened a week and a half ago and it's getting worse rather than better. That's why I'm starting to think it's more than a jam.

i had a boxer's fracture on my right hand from being stupid, and it swelled a huge amount. I would still get it x-rayed if i were you.

With me, I hit a wall due to a frustrating work situation...
Now, I find something soft to hit... I have a heavy bag hanging in the garage for this reason.

You may have cracked one of the small bones that make up the wrist. There a dozens of them and I would also suguest getting it checked so it won't grow back wrong...

nah it was before i had ever tried any performance enhancing drugs, however, yeah i hit a wall and i'll be damned if i didn't hit a stud... prolly couldn't find a stud if i were trying to hang a picture. LOL Takes a lot to make me do those things though.

Yes. I put my fist through a TV set at a trade show (long story). I knew my hand hurt a little bit afterwards, but I didn't think it was broken. My wife kept urging me to get it x-rayed... so finally 3-4 days later I went into the ER. There was no swelling... and just a little black and blue spot... but it was broken. I was in a cast for 6 weeks.
