Can someone tell me why the hell "World Championship Poker" is on most sports channels now....

Poker is NOT a sport....although your heart rate may jump after you win/lose thousands of dollars, it's still back to the free buffet for the players after their totally exhausting performances....

How do train for that sport?

yea, not entertaining one bit for me, i guess ppl want to learn how to play better or sumthing, bring back the sports!

Many sports fans/fanatics are very interested in poker. For that reason, many major sports networks are playing it as a way to bolster viewer ratings.

Are you saying John Daly and other atletes don't head right to the buffet after their done?

Soon they will be airing the World Series of Dice from the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, NY.

ESPN = Entertainment and Sports Network. I guess some of thier viewers find poker entertaining. Ditto with billiards/pool. Their most lucrative demographic is probably men in their 40s. The people in America who buy the stuff they advertise.

How do you train for that sport/

We have a casino tv ad about that here... this guy purposely gets a fucked up facelift so you can't read his face because its so tight.

I love playing poker, so I don't really mind watching poker on TV as long as I'm doing something else while it's on. The commentators are kind of shitty though.

As for billiards, I have ZERO problem watching that tall asian woman play pool. She's good and she's not too bad on the eyes either.

Is NASCAR a sport? It's on ESPN too.

Every show on the air has to be purchased, licensed or produced with a budget.

That show was probably peanuts to approve and tape. And the corresponding viewership total was worth the cost. Plus it might attract new types of advertisers.
