Anyone watch last night?

LOL

You just have to stop watching so much TV :)

I watched Dawson's Creek. God that episode was funny.

Naa. there's onl a few tv shows i watch

Sopranos
Smallville
Enterprise
Simpsons
.....

I tape them.

I watch:

1. Andromeda
2. Smallville
3. Stargate

Sci-fi'er me.

The show I frigging LOVED was Roswell. Damn UPN
canned it.

damn. I have never watched it.

who carries it? I'm in Canada so I'm SOL sometimes.

The Sci-Fi channel over here.

Fonz

Holy fuck. I've said it before and I'll say it again....NERDS! I'm not kidding anymore. You both officially qualify.

I can't get into those star geek shows, I did used to watch the original though.

The last time I checked I was an aerospace enginner. thats
oner of the reasons I like sci-fi.

What would you rather have me do?

Sit at home swilling beer, watching another gay football game(
except redskins games of course), and playing pocket
pool with myself..... ? LOL

Yes..

Bi-polar dosorder management. :) j/k

Just kidding.

I have no idea. What is it?

Astrophysics. I work summers doing astrophysics research and am deciding on a grad school presently...hoping to go to Harvard but it depends on how I do on the physics GRE. Anyway, I konw a lot of nerds and you guys qualify is all. I like Smallville but Star Trek and Stargate or whatever? Come on.

Really? Shit. You should have told me sooner. We could talk shop.
Thats one of several fields that interest me.

What do you do? Celestial mechanics? Solar dynamics?
Quantum Chromodynamics apps? Tensor mechanics?

Right now just school. Looking into General Relativity mainly for career choice since that way I can do time travel. :) Also interested in Unification theories, and quantum gravity. Last summer I did hydrodynamics of cosmological gases which was boring as shit. The year before though I worked with theories for the inward migration of extrasolar planets in their orbits. I'm doing something similar for my thesis.

Theoretical Astrojizzics, my favorite. Fascinating stuff, damn those big words though.

LOL. Shut up. Not funny especially when you're me and don't fit in at all...it's hard being a bodybuilder astrophysics...apparently there's some sort of ugly paramter everyone must meet to succeed in the field.

I sympathize :) , I've been interested in alot of nerdly stuff as a kid, but no single thing ties me down. I used to envision myself as a 280 pound long haired guitar wizard bio chemist, but that didn't happen so...

I had a chance in high school to see Hawking when he was at Berkeley, but found out a little late in the game and didn't end up going.

I'm a run on sentence in a punctuality crazed world.

Damn.

I wrote my dissertation on Super String theory and Super-gravity
theories. basically, UFT's.

My brother is doing his ph.D in theoretical physics. He has
much more knowledge there than I do.

General relativity? Why? that shit is BORING.

Mathematically simple nowadays.

If you're in school, you're probably still doing stuff
like lagrangian transformations from a 3-d plane
at a point(x,y,z) in relation to a time plane,. Einstein's
cone so-to speak.

Quantun Gravity? Now there I agree with you. Its very interesting.

Ever heard of gravity waves?

Fonz

I've heard of gravity waves but don't know much about them. i believe it is a relatively new theory.

There are cool things of GR. Time travel being the reason I'm interested. If I could solve the problem of time travel, think of the possibilities. Fuck, if i could even prove it isn't possible I'd be famous though i hope that isn't the case. We just saw Lagrangian's last year...classical mechanics stuff. By Einstein's code, do you mean a null cone? If so, then ya we're almost there. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

I think you missed the thread last year where I manipulated
the Special theory of relativity to show how Time travel
can only happen in the range Y (0,infinty) using an argand
diagram and complex number analysis.

Fonz

Here you go. From last year......

According to the special theory of relativity:

This equationis known as a time-dilation equation

T2 = T1 / (root of)[ 1 - v2/c2 ]

Where,

T2= perceived time by an observer
T1= Actual time experienced by the object
v= Speed of object
c= speed of light=constant

Now, lets look at what happens when v > c

Re-arranging the equation we get:

T2[ (root of)[1- v2/c2) = T1

Now, v2/c2 > 1.00000

So,

T2(root of)(- X ) = T1

Now, further extrapolating, the root of a negative integer
becomes a complex number

i.e. (root of)[-X] = (root of)(X) * i

Therefore,

T2 * (root of)[ X] * i = T1

So, the relationsip between T2 and T1 is prortional
to (root of)[X] * i

Since Complex numbers come in the form a + ib
(Same principleas a x,y co-ordinate plane,
except a complex plane is called an ARGAND diagram)

Then the proprtionality only has a vertical function that HAS
to be positive.
So basically the range is y = (0,infinity)

What does all this mean?

That time is LINEAR and you cant go out-side of time.

First, the speed of light is not entirely constant. Second, you didn't explain why v**2/c**2 >1 since unless one is moving beyond the speed of light that ain't the case. Moreover, if you start at < c then you can never surpass it whereas if you start art > c you can never go below it. I forget the reasons and all that jazz but you know as well as i do that you have proven diddily squat. Moreover, complex numbers are called IMAGINARY for a reason brother. Have more respect for physics for Pete's sake. :)

No, you twit. Complex numbers have IMAGINARY and REAL components.

And V**2/C**2 is OBVIOUSLY greater than 1 if V > C.

Use C=1 as an example. V = 1.01 which makes V > C

and therefore, (1.01)**2/()*2 = 1.0001 which IS GREATER than 1.

Come on Nate, you're dissapointing me.... :)

The y-axis represents the imaginary plane you ignoramous (just to be extra pretentious :) ). I'm sorry but you'll have to explain why you have v set higher than c. Did you read what I said? No human could ever surpass c. Only particles that are created at velocities greater than c can surpass it, and in fact those particles can never fall below c. That's what theory suggests nowadays anyways. Besides, c is NOT constant. Explain why v>c in your little game here. You know it's wrong though right? I mean honestly, you don't believe that do you?

Those particles are called Tacheons.

Their speed is an parabolic function with a
horizontal asymptotical vertex of v = c.

Just playing with you Nate. :)

I did this stuff eons ago.

Oh, and you marsupial(Have to be even more condescending)
using the V=1.01 C is called induction. It is a mathematical
principle used to develop and prove functions. In this instance,
since we're THEORYZING, it is applicable.

Now, go home to mommy. :) LOL

I believe it is spelled THEORIZING. Way to go champ. :)
Induction is when you assume one thing and then use it to prove that a statement is true for that case. You then extend it to be true for all cases progressively. Also, the Lorentz rtansformations only hold in particular cases. I'm glad you were only playing cause I was getting frustrated trying to find ways to negate something so obviously wrong.
