Enough to go into ketosis?

Lee

New member
Here's my daily diet, and stats, I'm wondering if this is enough to get me into ketosis:
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 216.4

Breakfast 7:20am: 3 whole eggs, 3 strips of bacon
Lunch 11:30am: Protein shake 40g of protein
After school 2:15pm: 3/4 pound steak or porkchop (Varies daily)
After workout 6:30pm: Protein shake 40g of protein

this is all i ahve daily, and im thinkin its not enough to send me into ketosis, if its not, what can i change?

as long as you are consuming less than 20-30 (this is a ballpark figure) grams of carbs you will get in ketosis.

looking at your food intake, i don't see any carbs. however your calories seem a bit low and you are not taking in any EFA's.
I would ditch the bacon and substitute that for some flax oil or UDO's.
Add flax/UDO's to your shakes.
Add some fibrous veggies.
Add another meal (solid food) - for example some time around 5pm.
move the last shake to around 8pm.

Like Millie said, For your size and weight, whether your cutting or not, your cals are way too low. Most Keto diets require well over 100g's of Fat per day. All your energy is coming from protien Lee, and thats expensive.

what if i just have flax along with the eggs and bacon, then add flax to all my shakes? and yea i know i need more veggies, im just not sure which ones have low carbs

looks good...

what are you mixing with the shakes though? If you use milk is may knock you out of ketosis without ala or something... Skim milk has about 10-15g carbs per cup... and no one uses just 1 cup of milk with a protein shake....

You may want to use water if your not already.

Add flax all over the place and add psyllium if your not into veggies. You not eating carbs so that should work.

Hey bud, for your weight, which is about mine (im 212), I normally consume about 130g Fat, and about 130-150 protein, keeping my caloric intake about 1500-1800, and my carbs b/t 15-20 (30 once a week).

Ive been steadily losing about 1/4-1/2 a pound everyday... but it took forever for me to get into Ketosis (about Sun-Tue, before it hit). I noticed that I have to keep carbs as close to 10 as possible the first two days, then after that I can increase to around 20 for the remainder of the Ketosis days.

As for Skim Milk... I normally consume either 3 Eggs with Udo's choice oil (meal 1), or another breakfast on some days of 1 cup Skim Milk and 20g Choc Whey Protein Shake. The only problem with the Skim milk is that it takes a considerable amount of your carbs in one meal, and these are only the apprent listed carbs on labels. Ive found that some foods have 1-4 grams of hidden carbs, so take this advice with a grain of salt, on whether you can limit carb intake for the rest of the day for a little bit of skim milk.
Or you could even just eat 1 cup of Non Fat Cottage cheese in Mid afternoon with about a half shot of Oil, and just watch carbs before and after.

i use water for shakes. ill just pick up some flax and some broccoli and califlower, from what i understand they have little to no carbs

Very good in keeping the carbs down, but you really need to get the fats and calories up.

Flax and veggies!
