Electronics question

Ok, here's the deal, my girlfriend and my daughter live 200mi away from me and I would like to invest in a video phone. However apon further inspection the cheapest one I found was from Motorola and it was $515.00, the rest were in the multiple thousands range.

So my question is, are there any cheaper alternatives, perhaps msn messenger video linking. I don't know a whole lot about this so any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks

cheerios

I'll check that out, thanks, hopefully it isn't rediculously expensive like everything else I've found.

Depending on the type of computers you guys have getting some cheap web cams and using AOL, Yahoo or MSN Messenger is a much cheaper route to go. Most of the web cams have a built in mic for sound too. You can get a set of web cams for around $50.

expensive? skype is just a program, you run it on your computer and it doesnt cost you a thing. there are specific accessories you can buy, though...i think theyre called skypephones, or that might just be teh company. anyway theyre gadgets taht have been made to interface with the program. take a look. good luck :)
