Egg Beaters..

The carton says they are pasteurized so do you still have to cook them??? I hate cooked egg whites but could dump them in a protein shake no problem.

BUMP... i've been using the eggbeaters in my first meal of the day.. would like more info on this, too..

No you don’t have to cook them. The chances off getting salmonella from a non-pasteurized egg is 1 in 10000. Eat them you'll be fine. (my bf does this all the time) :)

Eww....

Just so you know... egg beaters doesn't taste like regular egg whites when you cook them so you might like the taste better....

this is true.. i scramble them up every morning and they taste better than normal scrambled eggs to me.. but may want to put them in shakes for convenience occasionally.

Hey can someone tell me how much the eggbeaters are? How much protein do you get in a box for the price. Im only 18 and live with mom and she is tired as hell of me eating all her eggs (i eat a whole dozen whites every day).

Why do y'all eat the eggbeaters instead of regular whites? Convenience, price, or what?

Thanks guys,

Bumb. I've read the post about cooked vs. raw but I'm really curious as to the difference in quality. Eggs whites are expensive. Especially when you down about 25 a week.

Superscrawn...

Buying eggs and separating them yourself is WAY cheaper than just buying the boxes of egg beaters. Having a few boxes of them around for convenience wouldn't be a bad idea, but if you have time, use the real eggs. I can get 2 and a half dozen for 2.46. That's pretty cheap, in my book.

egg's

I wish you guy's lived near me, i would give you all the egg's you could handle!!!! Last spring just for fun I got a bunch of baby chick's{I live in the country btw} Anyway I get at least a dozen egg's a day, I have a hard time getting rid of them, and end up throwing them out some times:rolleyes: what a waste...

Where I am, eggs are often on sale 18 for $1.00. I think that's about as cheap as protein gets outside of maybe bargain basement tubs of whey. I boil the eggs, peel and chop, 6 whites two yolks. I have to say, I get a little tired of peeling them. I tried scrambling with vegetables but I just don't have the knack of cooking eggs that way. Plus the skillet is a pain to clean. It was advertised non-stick but noooo.
