Effectiveness of Receptor Sites

I read somewhere recently that the effectiveness of a receptor site to AS is directly related to the amount of the mineral, zinc, in the receptor itself. Apparently, use of AS uses up zinc stores at a high rate, and that has a lot to do with how AS quickly becomes less effective over the length of a cycle. The problem is, I can't remember where the hell I read this info, has anyone else seen anything along these lines? That would be pretty sweet if we could prolong the length of cycles by supplementing zinc.....I just bought some, $5 for a month's supply!

Thinkmuscle.com had an article on receptor site downregulation. The article is titled "androgen receptors down-regulate don't they" The article explores what goes on in the receptor cells and how the react to androgen antagonism.

Thanks, I went and checked out that article. To be honest though, it was only part 1 of the entire article and it didn't really give a clear picture, at least not that I was able to distinguish, as to whether or not the receptors do actually down-regulate, or why AS becomes less effective over a certain period of time on. I'm grasping at this zinc thing as it seems a really easy way to maintain effectiveness of AS, of course, you know how effective "the easy way" generally is

The second part of the article should be on there too. I get the newsletter on e-mail and I remember reading the second part of the study. Try a search for it and see what comes up on their site.

the article you are refering to can be found on mesomorphosis.com and on anabolicextreme.com

BTW, receptors do not down regulate, one theory is that when anabolic hormons are increased, your body compensates for them by creating more cortisol receptor cites, so after a while you are loosing muscle as fast as you are gaining it so net gains equal to zero.
