I went to school for 4 years to a quality private school. I was studying business administration. All I kept hearing from the people there was, get your degree and jobs will be thrown at you. Well I graduated fall a year ago and began the job search. I looked on the net, I looked in the papers. Every single job I looked at required at least 2-3 years experience. So I sat there scratching my head wondering how in the hell do I get experience if no one gives me a chance. I wasn’t able to get hardly any job experience in the summers while I attended school because I played football and I was constantly training to get ready for the season. So right now I sit here depressed as hell wondering when I am ever gonna be able to get my life started with a real career, not just a job but a career.
I decided that the best thing for me given the current situation of the job market is to go back to school. I already attended one semester in grad school and I am perfectly sick with it. So I begin my job hunt once again in hopes that someone will be willing to give me a chance. I guess if worse comes to worse I will continue with grad school but the question is will I complete it. Lord knows my heart isn't into it.
Which brings me to this concept of Educational Inflation. It is economics in its simplest form. Supply and Demand. The supply of educated people is way up therefore the demand is way down. What is a young person to do? In my opinion if I had it to all over again and I wasn’t playing ball I would have attended a tech school were I already be trained in real life situation and not just theory which is taught in colleges. But I will persevere and hopefully my $100,000 piece of paper will be able to be put to use someday.
