Ebay Mishap, Please help

I sold an indash LCD screen on ebay. Pioneer avx p7300 dvd. It was almost brand new. I only had it in my car for a few months.

I sent it in great condition. When the guy who bought it received it he said that there were wires yanked out the back of it and he can not use it. He wants his money back. this is total BS because he probably fucked the thing up and is trying to blame it on me.

Those who know how ebay rules and regulations work, how can i prove that i sent it to him in working manner? What can i do? This is such BS because i know it was in perfect condition. Do i have any recourse against his false claims?

Did the package appear to be tampered with when he received it?

Did you send it insured?

Did you offer insurance and the buyer turned it down?

When you buy things on eBay it usually is "as is."

Were pictures posted on your auction page that documented the condition?

There's a line somewhere on the selling page,"Cavate emptor"(Probably misspelled but WTF). Buyer beware, worst you'll get is negative feedback and you'll have a chance to counter that on the feedback page.Don't sweat it.

Mad

Yeah i insured it to $1500 but according to the buyer it wasn't tampered with. I mean right after the auction ended i got it uninstalled and boxed it right up and shipped it.

I think the guy wants his money back because he couldnt afford what he bought.

Thanks for the input, it takes a load off my chest

Fuck'em. I take my selling seriously and try not to screw anyone and the converse is I'm not letting anyone screw me.

it's called buyer's remorse,seen it a few times.

Mad

Screw him....

I don't say this to be mean, but if you shipped it and insured it and he says it came safe and secure. How does he expect to get a refund for it being "damaged?"

He can complain to eBay all he wants. If you shipped it insured and he can't make a valid claim for it arriving damaged, it's his word against yours, and he won't prevail.

I'm presuming some time has passed since he got it. If I got something, that day I open it to inspect it. He would have told you the day he got it that it was damaged, and you would have pursued a claim with the shipping company.

How did he pay for it? If he used paypal, I'd recommend you consider closing your account before paypal TAKES it for him.

I never use online payment systems anymore. Paypal has screwed me one too many times. He payed via money order

He emails me and says he is going to sell it to somone so i dont have to give him his money back and he gets his money back... Kind of suspicious if he says its broken. I think he;s just making it up...

then he emails me back and says he is sending the unit back to me.... I think thats kind of stupid of him b/c he loses the money and the screen. If it shows up at my house should i take it back or return to sender?

I dont want it back if he fucked it up

2 choices

You have 2 choices. 1. Give him his money back in exchange. 2. Dont give him his money back and get bad feedback. One bad feedback remark isnt going to ruin your ebay career. I have 2 and still am able to sell-without problems. Just be sure to place a remark under his comment stating your case. Personally, Id rather suffer a bad mark than give in to this piece of shit. He bought it, fucking enjoy it. As far as im concerned, he can stick the bare wires up his ass. The end.

you never answered about the pictures.... did you have a picture of it out of the box (after it was uninstalled from your vehicle)???

and... maybe all the wires are meant to be hanging out... you know, like the fucking power wire and ground, etc....

did you see the thing after they uninstalled it? or did they just pack it up for you and you sent it out?

imagine the bullshit he could do... maybe he had the same model and it broke.. so he gets yours and sends you back his broken one... if it has a serial number, he could have changed it...

i think like a criminal sometimes...

Someting similar happened to me. For a high priced item actually two items. the guy toild me that one item was damaged and that one did not work. I repleid to him and told him that I tested the items before they were shipped and they worked fine.

He replied a few times after that and I just repleied with the samething.

Always make a note of the serial numbber of an item and put it on the invoice or at least add it to the paperwork while shipping via UPS, USPS or FEdEx. That way they can not cheat you that easily.
