I just picked up "Dead Man",a 1995 Western with the ever impressive,multi-faceted Johnny Depp.It seems to be another one of those films that just 'slipped through the cracks'.As usual,Depp gives a remarkable performance in this somewhat strange, abstract, black and white throwback to old western filmography. It combines good dialogue, brutality and comedy all in one.

Johnny Depp delivers a remarkable performance in this highly acclaimed tale of adventure and intrigue in the wild, wild west! A young man in search of a fresh start, William Blake (Depp) embarks on an exciting journey to a new town ... never realizing the danger that lies ahead. But when a heated love triangle ends in double murder, Blake finds himself a wanted man, running scared -- until a mysterious loner teaches him to face the dangers that follow a "dead man." With an outstanding supporting cast including Gabriel Byrne (THE USUAL SUSPECTS) and Robert Mitchum (CAPE FEAR), and a sizzling soundtrack(by rocker Neil Young), DEAD MAN is another motion picture triumph from filmmaker Jim Jarmusch.

DVD #2 I picked up was "Session 9",and I have to tell you, this is another movie that I'm really surprised did not get more notoriety or word of mouth. It is creepy and disturbing as shit.Filmed on location at the REAL Danver's state Mental Institution,a condemned building formerly used as a giant Mental Patient housing/institution,where all manner of weird shit went down, and currently said to be haunted to an unbelievable level from Paranormal Research teams that have investigated it.The building all by itself creates an atmoshere that is scary as shit, but then the story that unfolds in the script covers the "what-ifs" that could be possibly involved within the premises...

Few things are more sure-fire creepy than huge abandoned buildings, and Session 9 has one of the eeriest buildings you've ever seen. A hazardous-materials-cleanup company has been hired to eliminate asbestos tiles and other toxic material from a gigantic mental hospital that had been shut down in the 1980s. But as one member of the team starts to nose into old files in the office, he uncovers a series of tape recordings of psychiatric sessions--nine of them--related to a notorious sexual abuse case. Soon, toxic materials and dark spirits start to merge. Like The Blair Witch Project (and most horror movies, really), Session 9 is longer on atmosphere and dream logic than story--but the atmosphere is effectively unsettling. A strong cast (including Peter Mullan, David Caruso, and Brendan Sexton III) do an effective job of slowly cracking under stress and evil influences.

Thanks Huck. We'll look into those. BTW: Did you ever watch the sci fi horror Event Horizon? What did you think?

If you did can you recommend anything along those lines?

Only thing I can think of along those lines of Parallel dimensions and Demons/Evil are the "Hellraiser" series. Those are pretty creepy.

*Edit-One that is 'sort' of similar, except without the demonic element,is "Supernova".Has some good special effects and decent plot.

Did you run into any Paranormal activity at those places Poye?

I agree Huck. Both Dead Man and Session 9 are great movies. I haven't seen either of them in a while though... just might have to add them to my NetFlix list. :) Thanks.

Deadman was good, weird but good. A few great dvd's I've watched lately are Glengarry Glen Ross, Blue Velvet and In the Name of the Father.

for sure, there is this one place where you can open a door, or close a door, then go upstairs or downstairs, come back and the door will be opposite of what it just was, you can hear it shut too

this is in an abandoned maternity hospital built in the late 1800's for unwed pregnant mothers, there are also cold spots throughout the building

Awesome!!I love places like that, creepy as hell, but also fascinating because you know someone is there. Are you guys taking pics and running video? If you have a video cam with Nightvision, set that mo-fo upon a tri-pod in the most active areas-You'll likely capture ecto-mists and orbs cruising around.Glad to see someone else who likes this type of stuff brother!

The cool thing is,the Infra red spectrum will capture these things and illuminate them, where even a lighted room would not without the IR.There's something about IR that exposes them.Look forward to seeing your site, sounds bad ass!!
