it's james burke
James Conway in the film, his real name was James Burke. According to records, his mother's maiden name was Conway.
He was given the name "Jimmy the Gent" because he would slip money into the wallets of the drivers whose trucks he'd just hijacked. He used to love unloading the hijacked trucks himself. To him, unwrapping the boxes was like being in a candy store.
It was nothing for Jimmy to bet twenty, thirty, forty thousand dollars on a ball game.
He owned Robert's Lounge, which was on Leffert's Boulevard next to the Van Wyck Expressway in South Ozone Park. He sold it just before he went away to prison for six years for the Florida extortion caper with Henry.
Before the Lufthansa Heist, a "Royalty Fee" with the Gambino Family was negotiated. In the book The Heist he was reputed to have held a meeting with John Gotti to discuss the whole thing.
Unlike Henry's version, Jimmy did not get 'excited' over guys buying new cars after the heist. In fact, Tommy DeSimone, Angelo Sepe, and Frank all bought cars after the heist.
Due to the influence of the drugs he used, Henry was extremely paranoid after the heist. James was quick to blame for the post-Lufthansa murders, however, he was hardly the menace he was made out to be in the film. Someone higher up in the mob hierarchy set up the murders.
Jimmy died in prison of stomach cancer on April 13, 1996 at age 65.
