Lacrosse Players Tout DNA Tests

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - DNA testing in the Duke lacrosse rape case found genetic material from several males in the accuser's body and her underwear - but none from any team member, defense attorneys said in court papers Wednesday.

The papers were filed by attorneys for the three lacrosse players charged, Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and David Evans. They complained that the information about DNA from other men was not disclosed in a report prosecutors provided earlier this year to the defense.

The testing was conducted at a private laboratory for the prosecution.

"This is strong evidence of innocence in a case in which the accuser denied engaging in any sexual activity in the days before the alleged assault, told police she last had consensual sexual intercourse a week before the assault, and claimed that her attackers did not use condoms and ejaculated," the defense said.

In an interview, defense attorney Joseph Cheshire said the findings suggest the accuser had sex shortly before the March team party where she was hired to perform as a stripper. The woman has said three lacrosse team members gang-raped her in a bathroom at the party.

District Attorney Mike Nifong did not immediately return a call for comment.

The trial is not expected to start until the spring.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I know of more than one person that has been through something similar and it DESTROYS your life. When your character is constantly being assasinated and you have a PERMANENT record because some evil and opportunistic person makes accusations - YOU LOSE YEARS OF YOUR LIFE THAT YOU WILL NEVER REGAIN.

Money is little consolation IF you ever do get it.

There is NO WAY the DA, city or whomever will get sued. They were doing their job. If the DNA had proved that the young men were guilty then - well everyone would be clapping that they were in jail.

But think about the reverse scenario. Innocent people have their lives taken from them on a daily basis because of nothing more than accusations. Imagine hearing from a judge, "If you sling enough mud, eventually some of it will stick."

God help you if you are EVER accused of a crime. Even if you are 100% innocent YOU ARE AS FUCKED AS IF YOU HAD BEEN GUILTY ALL ALONG.

The woman who accused you of something so ugly is disturbed no doubt. But trust me when I tell you that there are people of far more "normal and honorable" professions that can accuse you of much worse.

The travesty here is not that the accuser was a stripper but rather how the lives of innocent people were destroyed by AN ACCUSATION. Trust me when I tell you that if only one of the men ends up with a life that is a semblence of what it could have been had this not happened to him, it will be a miracle.

yes but the DA tested the sperm and didnt tell the deffense. there is a thing called discovery where both sides HAVE to give each other the evidence they have so there is no surprises in court. the fact that the DA withheld the information due to the fact that it proves the defendants are innocent is against the law. yes they can be sued because they DIDNT do their job. the police did their job but the DA broke the law. these boys are in jail for something they didnt do and i doubt Duke will let them back in because they now have a "black cloud" over their head.

the entire year i worked in the strip club i saw strippers constantly trying to shake down customers for money. they would complain to me they did a certain amount of dances for a customer and he didnt pay but in reality they only did like 3 but claim 12. at $30 a dance that a huge chunk of change. the worste is when they dont tell the customer how much anything is, give him the works and now he has to pay $1500 (hypothetical) because she never told him it was $30 per song. they are the biggest liers in the world. worsed than car salesmen. they even lie about shit that doesnt matter. they cant stop.

I get your point but you are missing what I am saying completely. IT peeps and electricians and schoolteachers and attorneys and judges also lie or "shade the truth" to suit their own agenda. The accused person's life is ruined period. Until one has lived it, you really dont understand. We are not talking about a stripper lying about the number of dances she did in a club. The dumbassed customer should have known walking into the place that he wasnt going to be watching pretty girls from a distance for free.

What is fucked up that this broad manipulated the law for personal gain and in the process irrepairably ruined the lives of innocent men. She did so on the wings of those laws and organizations that were supposed to champion those who are behind the 8ball to begin with just makes it all the more dastardly.

Both parties involved have "admirable and prestigious positions" (or at least one did until they had their life stolen because of this nightmare). They are people that you would never in a million years think to be involved in such a debacle. But the fact remains that regardless of how much money/prestige they have earned professionally, personally one of them is devoid of humanity.

Strippers are a curious breed, no doubt. But believe me when I tell you that lawyers are far scummier (as a group) than strippers. There are exceptions to every generalization.

There are more of us out there than people think.

The law is a fucking joke as there is no way to "undo" the damage of false accusation once it has been done. Imagine having your children taken from you over and over again only to hear over and over again - well YOU MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING REALLY FUCKED UP TO HAVE YOUR CHILDREN TAKEN FROM YOU BY A COURT OF LAW - I MEAN, THE LAW ALWAYS FAVORS THE MOTHER.

Let's just say for one second that it was all bullshit and fabrication and the children and mother were dragged through years of hell and it was all lies. Then what? Would any amount of money earn back all those lost years the children had with a LOVING parent? The children were damaged regardless. Does anyone think that the lawyers or the judge gives a fat rat's ass that the children are now strung out on drugs, failed out and fucking anyone that sez "hello"?

And of course, the stigma that the mother must bear is unbelievable but pails in comparison to the pain of watching her children helplessly drown from a distance while she can do NOTHING to save them.

I have known men that have done up to 5 years in prison after having been police themselves. Imagine what THAT was like for them. I also know of a friend that was accused of a crime so disgusting that I wont repeat it.

People need to step back and think a bit. Question themselves and their quickness to judge before they lash out at another because "if all that shit happend to the accused then it MUST be true."

I am not saying that you should hire an ex-sex offender to babysit your child. All I am saying is that more people should step back and think a minute before they spew negativity as they feel somehow they are "entitled to judge" another.

I am also waiting to find out if a Grand Jury indicts me on assault against two people.
The two are minor celebrities in NH. One is a former NE Patriot and the other is a coach and former gold gloves boxer.
They say I beat the shit out of them.
Here is where it is interesting. There were about 100 people there.
All the people who were not drinking or worked there apparently submitted just about the same story I did.. that I did nothing other then get punched and jumped from behind. The two guys also threatened to kill me and have me killed.
A bunch of the guys friends I guess are backing them up. They are big players in the community. I even have a PI following me around.
Its been six months. I am waiting for this to go away and it hasn't.
We will see if the system work.
These two jerks lied. They attacked me and it didn't phase me. Their pride was crushed so they made up a story, pressed charges and filed a civil suit.
The reality is I should not be charged with anything and they should be charged with assault and criminal threatening.
The laughable part is I never even raised my voice. I was very polite, did not curse and never assaulted anyone.
They were swearing, throwing kicks, punches, elbows and threatening to "have me killed"
They have money though... should be interesting!
