does anyone know of any web pages that would let you know whether two different drugs interfer with each other?

I take TOPAMAX 100mg which is a migraine medication and have just started taking marvelon (Birth control) again in order to regulate my periods as i hadn't ogtten one since November :worried:

On the Topamax bottle it says may cause some BC to be ineffective, but it says that it causes estrogen type BC to be ineffective, but as far as i know marvelon isin't :worried:

The two prescriptions are from different doctors, so i am not a 100% sure.

Any help... :qt:

Hi there,

I busted out my drug guide for this one. Topamax can decrease the effectiveness of ANY hormonal birth control because it lowers the blood concentration levels of the contraceptive in your blood. It didn't specify how much, but I do know some antibiotics decrease hormonal bc's up to 99% (scary, as most doctors don't warn the patient). Have you been on topamax for long? You mentioned your on it for migrains, but its listed in the drug guide as an anticonvulsant, but many drugs are used for different reasons I guess.
If you're concerned about it I would ask your doctor, because as I said, many drugs do significantly decrease how effective the birth control pill works, but many doctors don't think to mention it to the poor unsuspecting female taking it.

P.S. Don't drink on it! You could knock yourself out or act extremely bizarre, lol

I'm actually taking it to help me sleep... not for migraines.. it's kinda i guess a last resort thing.. nothign else has worked.. i was taking 50mg before bed for 2 months and there was no warning now that im taking a 100mg there is a warning..

Hahaa i already figured out the drinking part:)

Ya Marvalon's a pretty strong BP to be taking, or at least I thought it was. When I was on it I had NON STOP freaky bleeding... and I had been put on it to make me regular, lol. Personally I like the ones with lower hormones.
