I usually drink about 5 egg whites an hour or two before i go to bed on workout days. I drop em in a glass of milk. I love doing this, cause it's fast and easy calories and protein, and egg whites have what's supposed to be the highest-rated protein for muscle-building, even more effective than whey.
You can get salmonella from this. I've seen estimates as low as 1 in 30,000 and as high as 1 in 10,000 eggs are contaminated. The symptoms of salmonella aren't hard to catch if you're aware that you'er at risk, and it goes away quickly, which you can speed up with antibiotics.
You can also build up a biotin deficiency over a period of months if you eat raw eggs every day. No amount of biotin supplements will cancel out the avidin. A normal vitamin has about 30 micrograms of biotin, and one egg white can bind about five grams of it. The egg whites won't bind biotin if they aren't in your digestive tract at the same time though, so as long as you don't eat them every day you'll probably be alright. If you have brittle hair or nails in six months, you should stop, but i eat raw eggs every other day and i've never had a problem.
