drink eggs?

you guys ever drink raw egg whites? like i take regular eggs, crack the white into the glass, discard the yolk, and chug the whites? is this good or bad? any opinions?
 
I used to do that a long time ago. I can't take the texture anymore. On the plus side though I never got sick from it though although I have heard it's possible. I have a couple of friends now who drink egg beaters. They say it won't make you sick.
 
I drink the whole egg, egg whites has avidin that can bind to biotin so you might try the pasteurized egg beaters to avoid this, or just supplement w/ biotin on the side.
 
I drink them after every workout. As long as everything looks and smells good you should be fine
 
No problems. I used to take a couple of eggs in milk as a pre-sleep drink. I'm too stingy to go discarding good yolks but I've had straight whites when I've caught my aunt making mayo.
 
When drinking egg whites by discarding the yolk you put yourself in possible situation of salmonella poisoning, if you want to continue this practice use egg whites from a carton, or the eggbeaters as per they have been pasteurized and will not be harmful

No way!! Too many deadly germs tied to raw foods!

Get a teflon coated pan and spatula. Spray some olive oil in it. Pour in some eggs substitutes. Heat til firm ... season and consume.

Let pan cool and clean with soft sponge.

Easy and no trip to the ER.
 
We have chickens and horses and it's incredible to see the cycle of life.

The horses munch grass and hay which goes to make horse-shit. That goes onto the muck-heap to make worms which the chickens graze on, along with slugs and passing butterflies. Every morning I visit the chickens to find my little cartons of protein which go to make muscle so I can give grass and hay to the horses. Fresh eggs are delicious cooked or raw.
 
man i been like takin 12 egg whites every night and chuggin them down. its fuckin sick! i mix a scoop of vanilla protein with them now and it seems to help the flavor.
 
I'll thrown a whole large egg in with my shakes as well. Sometimes 2 if it's a leg day. I've been doing it for years and have never gotten sick from it. As long as you buy the eggs fresh from the store and keep them refridgerated they should be fine.
 
i'm lucky, my store sells pastuerized eggwhites. much easier for me to drink an eggwhite shake then eat them.
 
20 years ago you could do that and not worry... now a days i think it depends


ive done it for a while and i only got sick once, id imagine if you did get sick off of it youd get it really bad, and then never do it again like me :worried:
 
I usually drink about 5 egg whites an hour or two before i go to bed on workout days. I drop em in a glass of milk. I love doing this, cause it's fast and easy calories and protein, and egg whites have what's supposed to be the highest-rated protein for muscle-building, even more effective than whey.

You can get salmonella from this. I've seen estimates as low as 1 in 30,000 and as high as 1 in 10,000 eggs are contaminated. The symptoms of salmonella aren't hard to catch if you're aware that you'er at risk, and it goes away quickly, which you can speed up with antibiotics.

You can also build up a biotin deficiency over a period of months if you eat raw eggs every day. No amount of biotin supplements will cancel out the avidin. A normal vitamin has about 30 micrograms of biotin, and one egg white can bind about five grams of it. The egg whites won't bind biotin if they aren't in your digestive tract at the same time though, so as long as you don't eat them every day you'll probably be alright. If you have brittle hair or nails in six months, you should stop, but i eat raw eggs every other day and i've never had a problem.
 
not to sound like an idiot but ive heard a lot about biotin from egg whites. what exactly is biotin and what harm does it do?
 
Biotin is a good thing. It's a b-vitamin that your body needs. Egg whites have a protein that binds to it and can prevent you from absorbing it. If you eat raw egg whites every day you'll build up a biotin deficiency, but it supposedly takes months, or even years.
 
I use egg whites int.- few pumps in my protein shake gives it a richer, creamier texture. Can't taste the whites at all.
