it seems that 90% of my dreams are nightmares... horrible shit and i think maybe i am believeing my own hype and becoming what i fear the most. anyone else have probs with nightmares?

I usually cannot even remember what I dreamed of. Maybe 1 out of 5-10 nights. Usually it is not scary or good, just odd.

What are the nightmares about Saint?

Funny you mention it.. I have INTENSE nightmares when I am alone. If my girlfriend stays with me I sleep pretty good. But it is when I am alone.. I will wake up yelling at the top of my lungs and throwing punches. I think it is because I am scared of the dark.

That is when you have AAP stay the night.

hoss.. you're getting his fantasies confused with my nightmares.

besides.. AAP does not spend the night. He is too good to stay down here in my confederate double-wide.

I studied meditation with a Zen teacher that taught us some techniques for protecting ourselves while dreaming.
One was to sit quietly, close your eyes, and dream and imaginary guard being, like a dog, horse, bird or dragon. It helps if you have had an actual real relationship with such an animal and feel good about them.
In my case I can easily conjure up an image of a Doberman Pinscher I knew long ago.
Practice imaging them with your eyes closed.
Before bed, tell yourself you're going to practice bringing them into a dream.
Do it regularly, and pretty soon you will be able to call the dog/protector being at will.
Next time you have a nightmare call on your protector being for help.
If I feel my dreams drifting in a dangerous direction I can imagine "Sasha: Get 'em" and my dream dog chases away whatever is threatening.

Once you get that down, try imaging you've got a sub-machine gun in your hands....
What you really need to learn, is just because you're dreaming, you're not helpless.
It's your dream, so dream you are a Super Hero.
Learn to direct your dreaming.

I have a lot of fucked up dreams. Lately though, it seems as if my punches actually do damage and my guns blow people away, so that's a small plus, I suppose. :)

That's pretty cool. I might have to try that. Unfortunately I have bad dreams on a weekly basis. The latest one involved me thinking that I woke up and was looking at my doorway and I saw three figures enter my room, kind of like the demons in ghost - dark shadowy figures, and they started swirling around me trying to touch me and I was trying to push them away. It really sucked because they were getting so close to my face that I could feel their breath and it was very cold. I woke up and had goose bumps and was all paniced. :(

Anyway, usually don't have them as much whenever my lady friend sleeps with me and if I do she will comfort me whenever I wake if I was tosssing or turning or whimpering and shit. My bad dreams are usually scarey as fuck, and involve being hunted or tormented.

Whether your dream is about real people or ghosts, notice they require that you take the stance: "I'm helpless and can't defend myself."
That's what you really have to change.
Arm yourself with an imaginary sword, gun, Jesus, protector being, whatever works for you.
You just have to create that mental link, that whenever you are threatened, you whip out your magic "fill-in-the-blank" and you can vanquish whatever.

Another technique can be used with this one, is "The protected place". Imagine your most safest place, and imagine Jesus/Buda/Mohammed/God has thrown a protective barrier around it, and whenever you are there you are ultimately protected from everything.
The problem with having an imaginary guard being,
is after you send the guard being after the threat, then what? You need to have something else pleasant to transition too, so that you don't go back to dreaming about the scarey stuff again.

Turn these techniques into a 1-2 punch.
1. sic your guard dog on the ghost and drive them away
2. move to your protected place, where you can continue dreaming about something, and you don't go back to thinking about the ghosts.
Practice it till it's an automatic reaction.
