I thought in the shows they occasionally showed very small parts that indicated he had some sort of metal mask or helmet on.

I always pictured him closer to Destro or Cobra Commander combined with Skeletor more than an actual old dude.

I also never understood why the boss' mouth during the credits mouthed what dr claw was saying as he flew by... something to the effect of "Gadget I'll get you"
