Hi-gi post workout will increase (spike) the insuline; thus, increasing the shutteling of glucose and protiens into the muscle for faster recover and a higher rate of anabolism. In other parts of the day having hi-gi carbs will most likely increase bodyfat due to insulin being anabolic in fat tissue as well as muscle tissue.

that's what i thought....then why are potatoes and rice such a staple in a bodybuilder's diet?? why do we avoid pastas when they are lower glycemic???

I don't know who you are pointing at when you say pasta is to be avoided. Besides that fact that past contains 2-3 g fiber per serving (as much as oatmeal) and can be made of wheat, it's lower on the gi scale which would be, as a result, a good source of carbs. I don't know why bodybuilders think rice and potatoes are the heavens gate, but my guess is that most are tangled up in the myth of hi-gi carbs being the only way to gain mass. Also, consider the fact that most bb eat rice w/ protein and some fats so it slows down the digestion and degreases the insulin spike.

That's exactly what i couldn't understand!! Where do you get all your knowledge from Mr. X? Any recommendations on good reading so that I can educate myself even more??? Just a couple more questions>
1. why do most bber's aviod fruits ie. apples and grapefruits are low glycemic, wouldn't they be good?
2. And what do you think of N-large as a meal replacement while bulking?? i realize it is high in maltodextrin so i was thinking of adding a low glycemic carb to it or should i just buy regular low carb protein shake and take it with a low gi carb???
Thanx for all the help!

Mr. X will tell you fructose. I can't give the exact facts as to why, but I believe it encompasses the fact that, fructose is a source of energy. But if you're eating all other complex carbs, they'll be targeted as your source of energy. Thus, the fructose is stored in the liver, which can only hold so much. I don't exactly know how it happens, but it gets stored as body fat (or can).

A banana or a glass of OJ won't kill you though, but if you have a fruit serving in every meal or something, it's not really the best way to go. This is what I've gathered.

I would recommend a few books and articles:
first, read my dieting manuals, they are a STICKY on top of this page: i.e. ckd manual, bulking up, tkd manual etc....it might help you understand dieting a little.

The Ketogenic Diet by: Lyle McDonald ...is a good book
BodyOpus by: Daniel Duchaine ...awesome book
and of course, I'll be coming out w/ a dieting book in about a year

1. why do most bber's aviod fruits ie. apples and grapefruits are low glycemic, wouldn't they be good?
yes, fruits are low-gi, but they are probable the most tricky to understand....what happens is that when your liver is full of glycogen the glycogen coming in will be automatically stored as fat...now, fructose is 4x more likely to be stored in the liver then in muscle tissue, so it is more likely to be stored as FAT...
The liver can only hold 280cal or, in other words, 70g of carbohydrates, and anything over that is stored as fat

2. And what do you think of N-large as a meal replacement while bulking??
you could probably get a much better MRP at
www.proteinfactory.com
where you make your own proteins

i realize it is high in maltodextrin so i was thinking of adding a low glycemic carb to it or should i just buy regular low carb protein shake and take it with a low gi carb???
I would suggest going to proteinfactory and getting a blend of proteins and carbs w/ some flaxseed so the digestion is slowed down and your problem is solved

Do you recommend the "size formula":

20% MCT 60%
20% YOLK
20% Ion exchange whey isolate
20% Soy XT
20% Isoflax

Serving Size 80 grams 1 cup (Servings per pound, 6)
Protein 30 grams
Carbs 15 grams
Fat 24 grams

Calories 400

I'll order some of that if you think it would be beneficial...until then...can i continue with the N'large and mix in some olive or flax oil along with a low gi carb?

I recommend:

20% MCT 60%
20% Caseinate
20% Ion exchange whey isolate
20% Egg White protein
20% Maltodextrin

Mr. X, do you mean 70 grams of fructose? Or just 70 grams of any carbs? Because from what you said, it sounds like 70 grams of any carbs, and your liver is stored full and any carbs after that are stored as fat. Though, that wouldn't make sense.

And if it is 70 grams of fructose carbs then... wouldn't it be OKAY to have orange juice and some fruit and stuff? I mean, OJ is like 27 grams of carbs, or something... so it's safe to say you can have about 3 glasses of OJ before you start stories the carbs as fat?

How about:
I'll order some of that if you think it would be beneficial...until then...can i continue with the N'large and mix in some olive or flax oil along with a low gi carb?
Oh ya....and does any of this differ for someone who is juicing??? i am natural by the way!
