USPS mail is protected by the constitution and they cant open it unless they have evedence there maybe something inside (broken leaking vial etc). Domestic shouldnt have problems shipping any method.
Zyg... don't mean to bust your balls on this one by any means... but USPS mail isn't protected really by anything, the only thing that can keep a postal inspector from opening the packages is your constitutional right to privacy in it (papers and effects, etc)... it's your right that is protected...
That being said, the postal inspectors profile mail... if it meets certain aspects of packaging... 1) the size and shape of the package and its outward appearance; (2) whether the package has been heavily taped so as to seal or close all seams, edges and/or openings; (3) whether the package contains handwritten or printed labels; (4) the nature and destination of the package and/or its point of origin; (5) the absence or presence of odors; (6) whether the sender's zip code matches the zip code affixed by the postal clerk; and (7) whether the package contains a fictitious return address.
These factors considered, they can take it a step FURTHER... dog sniffs (no warrant required), if a suspicion of a bomb or other device is reasonably in the package, a warrant will be immediately issued.
With the new Patriot act... I do believe that under certain circumstanes now... the postal inspectors can open packages without warrants now... packages suscpected to be involved in terrorist activitiy... there are three guidelines outlined in the act, I can't recall them off the top of my head though... but, drug sales could be considered to be "financing" terrorism, it'll be interesting to see how it pans out in court...
