Doing ketogenic diet, had a question

I am pretty much doing an Atkins type diet for the past week, down 3-4 lbs but I get absolutely no pump at the gym. Should I just endure this while doing the diet for the next 6-8 weeks? I need to lose 20 lbs and am hoping this is the key. I have tried sticking with low cal diets and didnt have any success, body for life type diets and so on but the cravings and what not end up killing me.
Also, will it be counter productive to carb up like 1-2x per week? Will I not lose as much? I am interested in a 2-3lb per week loss.

first off, you should be shooting for 1-2lbs a week. Otherwise, you are going to be losing entirely too much muscle mass to consider your diet a total success in the end.

carb ups are absolutely necessary..if you do not carb up I guarantee you will gain back 90% of your weight loss once you incorporate carbs back into your diet.

atkins is not a keto diet, you should do some research on how to properly run a keto diet..there is tons of information on these boards alone

not entirely true. i did a very long keto diet earlier this year and lost 40 pounds total. when i went off of the diet i eased back into carbs over the span of 1 week and only put on 2 pounds. and i have been steady at 230 for the past 1.5 months. i havent even been in the gym for the past 2 weeks beacuse i tore an ab and i still havent gained any weight back.

its all about how you approach getting back on carbs. if you stop the diet and go eat a pizza with some cheesecake, yea you will gain a lot of weight back fast. if you stick to multi-grain breads, yams, oats, and the occasional snack, getting back on carbs isnt as bad as a lot of people think after a keto diet.

now with this being said, i do not recommend keto diets for any extended period of time. the whole time i was on the diet i was grumpy, had trouble craping, and was always tired. if you do a keto diet, dont to it like i did :D

well im normally very blunt when I speak, so it wasnt a huge difference :D

Usually being grumpy on low carb is because you are not getting enough fat. And Atkins IS a keto diet during the first two weeks. Carbs ups are NOT neccessary on a low carb diet. Keep reading. Find the stuff from Poloquin, JOhnny Bowden, Jeff Volek, Cassandra Forsythe, etc. Do it the right way and ease back into carbs when you are done and you will be happy.
