At least five people were killed today when a Staten Island Ferry slammed into a pier, the Fire Department of New York said. There were multiple injuries -- some of them serious -- fire and Coast Guard officials said. The Coast Guard reported that the ferry's master went home and committed suicide following the accident.

If I lived in Staten Island or had to commute by ferry, I probably would have jumped over the side of the boat a long time ago.

By the way, supposedly, the captain of the ferry, who was stationed in the back of the vessel, took evasive measures at the last minute that saved hundreds and hundreds of lives. They think the pilot either passed out or fell asleep. The ferry hit the dock at cruising speed and the captain apparently moved it just enough, at the last minute, to prevent a lot more people from being killed.

But the pellets can get lodged in the skin and cause a very serious infection.

When I was in 9th grade a bunch of my friends were sitting around smoking pot and one of them had a pellet gun. One of my "not the brightest of kids" friends decided to pump the thing up and shot the air in his mouth, but he didn't know it had a beebee inside. So it went several inches throw the roof of his mouth into his brain.

Luckily it went staright up into the membrain or whatever that seperates the two sides of the brain. Any slight degree to either side and he would have been dead.

So it might seem silly to be able to kill yourself with a bb gun, but it could be possible.

Though it wouldn't be my choice of a method, if I was going to knock myself off.
