Does anyone know how long it takes for a sprained ankle to heal?

I sprained my ankle about 5 days ago playing basketball. I sprained it to the point where it was all swelled up pretty bad and with the good blueish tint. Its still swelled but it doesn't hurt like it did obviously. I still dont have near the movement i do in the other ankle, and still have some pain in it, and overall tightness in the range of motion. Anyone know anything about stuff like this? The main swell is on the right side of my right ankle, above the knob of the ankle up to the top of the foot, perhaps connecting to the shin.

slickhomie i have no idea how long it will take for this to be ok, but frorider can tell you that a sprained ankle is a perfect excuse never to do squats or any kind of intense leg work for the rest of your life. doesn't even really have to be a serious injury like in his case, he got some sand in his shoe and it started to become bothersome so he fell down and was carried off on a stretcher. from then on, the legs were atrophying faster than a video of electrons shooting around a superconductor played in fast forward.

lol. Nah i hit up the squats and presses yesterday. Only 3 days removed from the sprain. I just am itchin to floss some more skills on the blacktop ya heard?

Damit!!! I didn't sprain it, I dislocated it!!! Don't make me dislocate it up your ass! :FRlol:

Okay, since I do have some knowledge in this area...
1. If you have health ibnsurance and can afford the co-pays, go to a physical therapist. I believe in these people a lot.
2. If not, you should have kept it wrapped in an Ace Bandage as soon as you did it to keep the swelling down and ice it 1or 2x a day.
3. At this point. follow the advice of #2.

Also supersuckme, I don't use it as an excuse to get out of squats. I have my knee for that. :D (I just wished it was a valid excuse. My training partner makes me go way heavy on those fuckers and I hate it.)

Sprains can take up to a month. I did mine playing basketball too. I was dunking on Jordan and came down on the side of Pippens foot and rolled it badly. Reason the Bulls won da championship probably.
