TheValley

New member
Man going through the bills this month dam not too much left over....feels like its a constant struggle to pay the bills and yet have some fun.....

house pymt
snowmoblie
tv/gas/elec
taxes
credit card---this one hurts me some months

does anyone feel the battle with me

If you are indeed having financial issues, look thru your bills and ask yourself

What do I really NEED in here vs want ?

Get rid of some of the want things, or quit complaining.

Stop using the credit card! I haven't used one for over 10 years now. Interest kills people's budgets.

hey just asking anyone else has a hard time living and trying to stay with in your means and still have fun and some toys

the list above are my bills at the moment

yeah, I used to feel like that. =-)

bor honestly you spend loot in a somewhat reckless fashion
new sled
camera
ipod
i can't feel too sorry for you, i work my ass off and have half the belongings/lifestyle you have

As soon as my tax bill is taken care of, I'll be quite a bit more comfortable. It's always a worry though. No matter how much you have, something can happen and it's gone.

yes, i think a lot of people other than you are living beyond their means. luckily, there are modifications you can make to your expenditures to tilt things more in the other direction - but of course, that's up to you.

A valuable lesson that will save you lots of $$$.....

If you want something, save up and then buy it OR make payments only if you can do the no interest for so many months plan a lot of businesses do. (just make sure you pay it off before the deadline).

I never pay interest, unless it's a car or house. Most people stay in debt due to continuous interest charges.

How much is your snow mobile payment. And I say get tighter on going out to eat. Going out to eat is overated save the money for doing fun things like snowmobiling or motorcycle riding.

You need to take a good look at your expenditures. What exactly do you NEED...If money is tight and feels like a struggle my best advice is to rid of things that are not needed nor necessary.
Just a thought.

If you have a girlfriend, dump her. That will save you tons of $$$.

If you have a wife, keep her. That will save you from losing nearly everything.

im in a spot where I can either enjoy life on my motorcycle or sell it and pay off the debt to be debt free.

i choose enjoyment.

life is short.

The worst part is people don't treat future retirement as a priority. You need to save.

Treat it like a monthly expense, because in the end it really is.

Interest is for shmucks, especially on consumer debt. I never financed a car in my life, even when it meant driving the same car for ten years early on.

I choose to live barely with in my means, and enjoy the rest.....fuck it life is short and there nothing looking back with regret wish i would of done this and done that.....just do it

Then if this is your way of life and you choice..Why bitch about it?

just want to see how many people out there are doing the same thing.

the american dream.......= debt these days lots of debt

Most young people think this. Nothing really wrong with it I guess.
For now

Much like they think they are invinceable and do crazy stuff.

But soon this will likely change, and you will realize that indeed,
life does require SOME planning for the future. Not saying you can't do
things on a whim sometimes, just sometimes.

yeah i guess there needs to be some common sense in there some were...saying
"You know u might not be able to do this if you spend that right now"
always in moderation i guess

you're a friend of Gambino IRL???
why didnt you say so!!

:)

If you pay the credit card off every month then how does it hurt you?

You might as well dump the credit card and just use a debit card for those purchases if you pay it off every month anyway...

I've found it doesn't matter what you make, it's never enough. The wife and I live paycheck to paycheck. But I also contribute 9% of my gross to a 401K, contribute to a Roth IRA, a money market account, and a savings account which is direct deposited to those accounts before I get my hands on it. This has been one of the best things for me. Only advice I can give is like the rest of the replies, get that credit card payed off ASAP. If you want something, save for it. Don't get into the habit of instant gratification. I'm so suprised at people where I work that say, "I can't afford to give to a 401K". How can you not afford to when our employer contributes .50 on the dollar up to 6% every year? That's free money! If it's offered to you, start out small. Then every year try and bumb it up a %. I promise you wont miss it if it comes out before you can get your hands on it. On a side note, this is why I think alot of people don't complain about the amount of taxes being taken out on them. It comes out before they get paid. The same people love it when they say every year how they're getting so much back in a tax refund. It was your money to start with! Sorry, that's the Libertarian coming out in me.

I haven't used his, either. I pay in cash or debit from checking.

I agree with you on the tax refund being an interest free loan to the gov, but most people don't have the discipline to save the money and wouldn't be able to pay the tax liability come tax time.

Yea, I understand that but they could at least claim in such a way throughout the year so they get back a few hundred bucks, not a few thousand.

Yep.
I claim just enough to break even. I think my return is something like $70. :)
