I just got off the phone with a friend. I'd met with him for lunch about 6 weeks ago and gave him samples of ALA and r-ALA. He wanted to try them to see if they would help him lose b/f. He is 59 years old, mostly sedantary, and has a histroy of enlarged prostate.
I called him today to check on his results. He told me he had to stop taking the capsules. He took ALA for 3-4 days... then switched to r-ALA. At about this time he noticed he was showing signs for prostitus.
He is unsure if the ALA or r-ALA contributed to this, but he stopped using the capsules as a precaution. He wants to try them again but wants to find out if the medical literature shows any link to prostate problems.
He also wants to know if it was possibly the ALA alone that caused the problem, and if he could safely resume using the r-ALA.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.
