Do you know medical terms?

I received a letter today from a men's screening last week that I have elevated triglycerides, glucose, BUN and CPK. I have an idea of what the first two are, but not really sure about the last two. Of course, I am planning to see my physician to see if further evaluation is needed, but until then.........thought maybe someone here could shed some light on this terminology for me. Thanks bros and gals.

First check the link and know what the terms are referring to.

Also know that on occasion that heavy weightlifting as well as supplement and medicine use can elevate these things, most notably BUN and CPK levels.

Check with your doctor just to be on the safe side and make sure he knows you're working out.

Just curious, did you lift the day of the tests?

Thanks for the responses guys. Actually, I did some checking around and found that CPK is known as creatine phosphokinase, so I'm assuming that's creatine concentration levels in skeletal muscles. I've been using since my last cutting cycle over 3 months ago. Maybe I need to cycle off for awhile. But I was always under the impression that there was no real danger from prolonged usage. BUN apparently stands for Blood Urea Nitrogen, which in high levels can be caused by several things from dehydration to shock, none of which I have experienced lately. Will have to see the doc to learn more. Thanks again fellas. And yes, I did work out prior to that appt.

The cpk is used as a sign of muscle damage. Most notably it tells docs if your heart has been damaged. Chances are yours came back high due to the type of training you do. I don't think its from the creatine. Creatine would make you creatinine levels come back high. This would be a concern for a doc cuz high creatinine levels indicate kidney problems. Again, if that came back high you can say that you are supplementing with creatine and they probably won't be too concerned. But it doesn't sound like that happened.
