Do you complain?

If something pisses you off, is not right, puts you out etc., do you complain? Do you write an email/letter, make a phone call, speak to somebody directly?

I used to let things slide and just get on with my business. Recently, however, I've become increasingly annoyed at things that put me out in various ways and have started to stand up about it.

For example, I wrote an email to the local council complaining about a lack of carparking at a train station where I park my car before catching the train to university. As a result of insufficient parking, I received parking fines for having my car in a spot that expired after 4 hours. Rules are rules and I paid the fine, but surely it is unacceptable that countless cars who's occupants are law obiding and paying customers (fare evasion is a problem) of the transport system, resort to parking their cars on dangerous embankments and in all sorts of weird places at the station in order to avoid fines.

Another example, today I contacted my course coordinator about a question that was answered incorrectly by my tutor that lead to me completing an entire assignment with the wrong line of reasoning and answers. In effect, I'm now going to be doing it for the second time.

Is standing up for yourself worth it, even when nothing can be done about the bullshit you've had to put up with?
