upon experiencing a loss of muscle tissue the muscle is able to rapidly regain the lost tissue when a correct program is put into place...

i am down 25lbs, and would like to gain some of that back... i feel week and feable... i feel like that canadian bitchboy who posts here....

ok well there is a thread of pics of me on the women's board. one pic of me in a dress is from december. i hadn't worked out in 5 years... then in that thread there is one of me a couple of weeks ago flexing. that came back fairly soon after i started working out again in feb... huge difference, hey?

i used to play basketball, volleyball... but mainly i got jacked from rowing 5 years ago.. like i gained 10 lbs of mass in two months from 5 hrs a day 5 days a week of training... and it showed. those muscles are back but smaller for me at this point, and i should point out also that didn't even have some of them before i rowed and right away they started to show up again this year... so to make a long story short... yes i believe in muscle memory.

MB.. I went through the same thing as you.... a horrible breakup after 6 years (a child involved also) and I lost 25lbs....My friends started calling me a crack head...I tried Prozac cuz I was so depressed...then I found out with that stuff..you can sport wood.... but no money shot (what a cruel joke that is... I felt like every woman Ive had sex with....get them all pumped up and no orgasm) I quit the Prozac after a month and started back in the gym which I had not really been in in the last 2-3 years..... I also quit smoking at this time too... I am now 35lbs heavier (mostly muscle) I can sport word and the money shot. I gained almost all of the 25lbs back in about 6 months and slowly added to it... the gym is the best form of Prozac there is...if it wasn't for the weights.. you guys never would of heard of thefantom1 ..............................

PS. Ladies.... the " I felt like every woman Ive had sex with....get them all pumped up and no orgasm" comment was made in humor and is totally false... For Comedic Purposes Only............ so don't be afraid to try out thefantom1 ...................... :-)

if I'm not mistaken the nerve denstiy increases are retained even when the mass is lost - so the muscle fibers that are there get the strong signal allowing them to lift a maximal amount of weight, which would then perhaps trigger the growth?

I don't know, my ass is sore from talking out of it.

WEll this time HS's ass farted out the correct response. The other contributing factor is that the previously worked muscle layer becomes thicker with denser striations over time in a lay off period. Which is due to ass mans comment above.

yes muscle memory is real,i dropped 10lbs from being lazy a little while back and dropping diet,i got it back now and a little bit more:fro:

i dont know of this counts but when i walked into a room and switched on a light a moth came right at me. i swiped st it with my left, missed, did my right and then did a front thrust kick....at a god damned fly....scared the shit outta me. muscle memory includes this stuff too right?

holy shit!
I just had a very similar thing happen to me - I walked into my room and turned on the light... nothing came at me, but I just shit my pants!

:FRlol: :FRlol: :FRlol: @HS

one thing though, i have not stopped working out... i know if i do that i am begging to be a fat sloth of a man... on that note, the gay gym owner says i look really good :)

Yes it's real. It has to do with increased nuclei count (the things that support muscle growth, or protein synthesis) and this increase remains after discontinuing training but mRNA don't "signal" them to synthesize protein so you don't grow...when you start training again the signal is now there + the increased amount of nuclei and you get rapid growth. Also a greater number of muscle fibers (Type IIX, specifically) as a protection mechanism in case of weight training stress in the future...when you train these fibers (which are just kinda hanign around doing nothing during detraining) are activated and quickly convert to either fast twitch or slow twitch fibers (depending on how you train) so you get rapid growth and actually icncrease your potential for size overall...prolly made no sense but that's how it works.

If this is it (muscle memory) than I do believe in it.

ps. I am also not a bitch boy

A friend of mine went down from 218lbs to 180lbs after shoulder surgery and it took him 6months to gain it back naturally :)

I went to turn my light switch on and . . . nothing.

I believe in my last life I was Hercules, when I was born into this life I was only 9lbs. Now I'm back to where I was @ 257lbs and the weight of the world on my shoulders.
