Do you Bake Your Gear?

Just wondering how many of you "bake" your gear before you use it. My thinking is better safe than sorry.

Extra props to Needto for explaining the process.

I think I would if I were going to do some gear, especially if it's UGL. Depending on the source, I may even re-filter it AND bake it.
But that's just hypothetical since I would never do anything illegal:D

Hypothetically I tried it. Not much of a difference in pain issues. Some of these UGL's put so much BA in it that I don't think germs can survive. Re-filtering is pretty easy and can hurt.

outlaw used to have some good posts on this, but can't link to them anymore

cliffs version, bake twice - once to germinate, then again to kill the spores the BA doesn't get. Don't expect for one second that your oven will do the same job as an autoclave, spores and microbes will survive due to the heat conducting properties of the oil.

BA makes the solution bacteriostatic - no more organism growth, but wont remove the crap in there.

Add BA. Bake (not high or long enough to damage the a a s), cool. Bake again. Refilter (.22u)
