Do steroids indirectly affect fat cells?

Nathan

New member
Alright, correct me if I'm wrong but adipocytes (fat cells) are not target cells for steroid molecules. So, how is it that steroids can indirectly stimulate lipolysis?

Andy13, Fonz, Macro, Huck, CYCLEON, etc., you guys normally eat this shit up with a spoon! Is this a conspiracy?

I'd like to know the answer to this also. It might be that when you put on 10 to 20 lbs of muscle you will be burning 300 to 500 more calories per day. So if you don't adjust your diet, you could end up losing a pound of fat per week. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be, so you'll be burning fat more easily then before your cycle.

Vanian makes sense but wheres all that technical babble , the scientific evidence behind all this?

Im starting to notice that ive increased my protein intake and calorie intake and instead of gaining weight im sheding off fat,...

Just a guess, but I would think that non-muscle weight gain would have more to do with aromatization (edema, water weight) than fat; provided, that is, that the diet is good.

I think that vanian hit it on the head. No real techno babble needed. Muscle=metabolism. Obviously the more you get, the more your body is going to burn.

Deca and EQ both have "cutting" effects mainly because of the low water retention caused by these drugs.

VJ, you are likely seeing water weight which will subside after the cycle (or if you use some arimidex to inhibit aromatization).

I know there are more minor factors at play, but I think those are the major causes of steroid induced lipolysis.

Then again, I am no vet with AAS.... but that would be my take on it.

Thanks for the replies but I still think that this question is far from answered. I keep reading that androgens increase lipolysis with no explanation. So I'm going to bump again.

Well....I can document my rise in basal temp in relation to my Fina injections. I think that some gear "burns" fat, although most will argue that point.

There is some research that concludes that the high levels of estrogen (during a androgen cycle...i.e. test) can lead to female pattern fat deposits around the hips.

In other words, you will gain a permanent pattern of fat around your hips that will never go away...just shrink and expand.

Something to think about when you want to go heavy with test.

Thanks 2Thick, but what about the effects of test on adipocytes? Anything there? BTW, thanks for reminding me of what estrogen is capable of.:D I hope I get to sleep tonight.

I dont think deca has any cutting effects, and I always put on water from deca.

I would hazard to guess that the anabolic properties of test would help "burn off" adipocytes since they are very active, metabolically speaking.

Thanks dude. One last Q: Does the huge amount of angrogens in the body when on AS have an effect on burning calories, which would explain why many eat appropriately on AS but don't gain any weight (but would without the AS at that high a caloric intake)? Does that need to be said clearer (sorry)?

If I understand your question correctly, the use of AS will speed up your metabolism. But you also utilize protein more efficiently, which leads to gains in LBM. But in general, you need an excess of calories to grow. If you eat correctly, you should grow better on gear than off gear.

Thanks bro. That was what I was after - that AS speed up metabolism. I've read a few times that androgens increase lipolysis and metabolism but I couldn't figure out why (since androgens don't seem to have any direct effects on adipocytes).

DECA affects on adipocytes- less estrogen so less A2 and less stimulation of existing A2. Progestins do have direct effects on Adipocytes located in IM- they probably have effects on other adipocytes- perhaps competing with estrogen for binding,

EQ effects on adipocytes- weakly aromatized to a less potent estrogen with activity similar to estrone.

No evidence that androgen bind directly, exceptions deca, tren and anadrol because they are progestins.

peace
