Do Opposites Attract?

just curious.....you hear that a lot, but most of the people i've seen with good relationships are similar people in style and belief.....do you consider yourself to be similar to your husband/wife/s.o.? or has being together made you similar?

A girl I was with a few years ago, we were complete opposites. Got along great. Ended up hating each other though ...

My last girlfriend, we were pretty similar, and I had never been happier.

Next ho I'm lookin for will have the same interests and such as I do. I will just end up getting frustrated if she doesn't.

I like someone that has similar interests and beliefs, but I don't like them to be exactly like me. If each person is a bit different, they'll both learn new things and have new experiences.

It depends what the opposites are. My girl is young & white while I'm (obviously) old & black, however our interests are the same. We're both computer geeks, like the same type movies, her birthday is the day after mine....definitely compatible in the bedroom.

i think opposites attract to a certain extent.....extreme opposites may be a bad thing....

similar interests and beliefs are probably a good thing.

having different personalities that compliment each other is probably a good thing too.

I, for instance, need someone who fills the voids that my persomality leaves.

It drives me insame when I date someone with the same insecurities or personality complections as me. I need some one who is confident where I am not and is insecure where I am confident, otherwise, too much clashing.

Yes, opposites do attract. I married an opposite under the naive belief that being in love was enough, I was wrong. Although, we were best friends and had the most amicable divorce anyone had ever seen.

definately, I am very picky and am only attracted (mentally) to chicks who are like minded (artsy, liberal, sexual, etc...) espcially when it comes to music. If a chick listens to certain bands I hate, trendy type of music or wears sketchers, its over.

I think that different tastes help expose you to different things you might have never considered before. You don't have to like them, just accept that the other person does. You can't be complete opposites, but some things aren't going to end a relationship. At least, hopefully not.

when was the last time u looked on a dating site and saw "i want someone the complete opposite of me". Cuz everyone has dated someone with complete opposite hobbies, and after awhile -- you realize you have NOTHING in common.

To each his own. There are some things that I definitely want to have in common with a man, but we don't have to be completely similar in tastes. As long as a person can accept differences, they should be welcome. Don't try to change them, don't put your own tastes above theirs. I will say though that I want someone as stubborn as me. That's one similarity I'd love.
