Do minorities get grants for buying homes?

Im sure there are minorities out there with more money than me...there has to be...so do they get grants to buy homes simply because they are not white?

Never heard of that.

I think first time buyers get some kind of preferential treatment at times but I could be wrong.

Thats what i thought, but TC2 mentioned it in another post. All i do know is that there are a lot of minorities buying $$350k+++ homes in my neighborhood when the white lady next door to me says she cannot afford anywhere close to that.

I'd say that is unneeded discrimination. Personally I am looking to buy a home in the ghetto, will there be a grant for me for that?

I hear what you are saying and maybe there is a new program or something that affords them to do that.

I have been a home owner for 17 years (in the same house) and I quit worrying about what people are buying and just worry about what I have to do stay in my house. It's too tempting to try and keep up with the neighbors but you will find that you are doing nothing but spinning your wheels deeper and deeper into the mud.

I'm not moving anytime soon and I have just a few more years left on my mortgage.:)

I figure if everything else is going to turn ghetto, why spend the big bucks to move into a nice area and watch a slow death when for 1/3 the price i can move right into the ghetto. Shit cant get much worse than shit.

Being well off financially and White is no guarantee that the neighbor will keep his property up and not be running motor cycles up and down the street at 8:30..

I think HUD has (or at least, they used to have) programs for low-income folks of any race to buy starter homes (not $350,000 homes).
