do AAS cause alzheimer?

Hi every body, I spoke to my doctor about doing a cycle of steroids to gain weight since I'm struggling to increase my weight, he said it's a crazy decision, he was like, roids will decrease your libido and in the long term they will make you prone to get alzheimer because they kill your brain cells. I just wanted to double check with you boys, and I've decided to go on my own and get ready for a cycle, I don't really care about libido because if you do a proper pct your test levels will go back to normal, but how about alzheimer? do steroids really cause alzheimer? thank you.

Hormones alter many things in the brain. If Alzheimer's runs in your family I wouldn't risk it unless you're low on T levels. They will kill your libido long term if proper PCT isn't used or you run the cycle to long.

to say steroids directly cause heart disease or alzheimers is a reach, it is going to be a combination of things. doctors are very ignorant about AAS, as well as diet and nutrition too. do not take their advice on anything they say pertaining to either.

having said that if you abuse AAS they will lead to problems across the board, mostly though pertaining to heart health. this is why I teach proper cycling of steroids and tell guys to use them responsibly.

we know that steroids cause cholesterol issues, that is why you cycle them on and OFF. you also need to use steroids when you already have a healthy heart and run your support supplements. if you do them properly they are perfectly safe.

just think about all the things we do to our bodies as it is. the foods we eat, the water we drink, the alcohol, the rec drugs, the lack of sleep, the STRESS. it is all a combination!

Doctors buy into many of the scare tactics used by the "just say no" to drugs folks. I've heard anabolic steroids blamed for a lot of problems but this is the first I've heard of them killing brain cells or causing Alzheimer's. They usually increase my libido at first but then it slows down. I don't do PCT as I already needed TRT. When I stop my cycles I just go back to my TRT dose. I wouldn't be concerned about the Alzheimer's.

You can not prove cause and effect relationships. That is extremely ignorant of your doctor.

If a bodybuilder who takes steroids develops alzheimer's, does that mean all bodybuilders who take steroids will? Of course not.

Alhezimers is a neurological disease. Steroids effect your testosterone and estrogen levels. They do not really effect your neurological system. I really can't see steroids contributing to alhezimers disease in any way.

Things like this are not only genetic but cumulative. We had this discussion recently on a podcast episode about things like advil/Tylenol affecting liver. It is not that the individual drug is terrible but that combined with alcohol consumption and a bad diet can cause issues. I would not say that steroids alone are that much of a factor.
