If you are looking to eliminate a few pounds of water weight for an event (not a BB show) or photo shoot, how many days can you take OTC diuretics such as Taraxatone and Dandelion Root?

I know that your body will "rebound" and start to hold onto water if you dehydrate yourself for several days, but I'm wondering if you have the same effect if you take diuretics. So for how many days can you load up on diuretics before you start to retain the water you are trying to eliminate!

Start using them a few days out and you should be fine. WHat does your carb loading and depleting look like? This and your sodium/potassium intake will make a much more profound impact than using an OTC diuretic.
 
BFF - I was hoping you would reply! Problem is, I need to keep as much water retention out as I can for three consecutive days. That is the tricky part....

I don't have a real carb loading plan (I know, I know). Carbs are pretty low right now. Only carbs I am taking in are sweet potatoes and veggies. I plan on cutting out all starchy carbs - the potatoes a couple days before. Right now, salt is mod-high. Plan on cutting "extra" salt out same time as starchy carbs. Will be taking OTC diuretics as well as extra potassium.

For example, say the start of the event is next Thursday (and continues through the weekend). I plan to cut carbs Monday (but still eat green veggies such as asparagus and cucumbers) and cut excess salt then (no salting food, no meat marinades). I will start diuretics Tuesday (Weds?). I can't really cut out water for that many days, so I plan to drink normally (around a gallon) until Weds, then just cut back. Should I plan on having a carb load day on Sunday?

I shouldn't be holding much water weight right now, probably only 2-4 lbs. I am not expecting major poundage gone, just mostly minor bloating that is normal with life. Basically, I just want to look as less "puffy" as possible.
 
Cut out all carbs, except raw veggies now. Do curcuit training and cardio every day. Start carbing up on wednesday. Its hard to advise you on what type of carbs and how much, since you haven't done this before. Do NOT cut your water back for a 3 day event. It will dehydrate you and make you start holding more water after a day or so. Keep it consistant, and since you need to keep the water off for 3 days, don't go overboard on the carb loading, since you aren't trying to peak on a specific day. Try about 1.5 grams per ibs of bw each day. Keep yoru sodium low, and take in extra potassium. Try a potasium based salt such as No Salt, rather than potassium pills. Start the herbal diuretics on tuesday or so. Again, advice is hard to give with limited information.
 
Drop the r-ala for the carb depletion, but go back on it for the carb up. It will help a little, but after depleting, your muscles are usually more than happy to absorb any carbs you eat for a few days.
 
Perfect - I think that is good. It's not a huge deal, not like a BB show or anything. I am not expecting to have paper-thin skin or anything! Just want to minimize the ab/hip poofy-ness and keep overall puff down. I think dropping a couple lbs of water is fine, that is all I want/expect.

Oh, any thoughts on GlucorellR? I have been using that daily with carb meals, plan on keeping that ongoing through this too.
 
What type of event is this, or are you just going to the beach? LoL
