Ok I want to buy one tomorrow and I need some opinions/ explainations as to what to get. I don't want to spend more than 500. Anyone???

gateway has good cameras for super cheap right now. i don't think you can beat it. that is i'm guessing you mean a still shot one. or did you mean video?

I'd do with either a PowerShot or Coolpix, prob looking at like the PowerShot G3 or Coolpix 4300....Those would both be awesome choices IMO

Heres some pics from a G3 so you can see how nice and clear they are:

These are corals from a Saltwater tank (Ricordia and Leather Polyps)

Personally I wouldn't go with a gateway one, (and not just because I used to work there lol) Their new cameras have been getting some pretty bad reviews, go with a trusted company like canon or nikon my .02

I am looking for a digital video....sorry, I have been looking at gateway's website.

I was thinking of getting this: Sony Digital8® Handycam....is it any good....or should I get a mini dv?

check on ebay......i have bought alot of good high end things off there.....i got this lab top i am on right now off ebay

ubid.com

Are you mainly interested in video or still?

My friend got this camera/recorder/video camera all in one at bestbuy.

I don't know the name of it but it is the best thing I've seen.

Nice, big guy will tape his lifts. Get well soon broly youre an inspiration

I sold digital cameras for 4 years. You want a digital camera or digital camcorder.. if you want a digital camera .. i peronsally would look at olympus (model number c-50). That is a 5.0 mega pixel still camera. that ALSO does movie shows along with many other featurs.. The movie will be in decent quality and can go for upto 10 minutes with a 128mg memory card.

Did you buy a capture kit as well?

not sure, do you mean the pinnacle studio 8 package?

I held off b/c i wanted to look into a program called neat, never ending athletic training, it is software that is made for breaking down video frame by frame, simultaneously with another video....so it is great for technique work. It runs about 300 bucks though so i decided to just get the pinnacle...I think I am going to get it thursday...any other suggestions?

Sounds like a cool program..

I think Pinnacle will be good for a start. Only other suggestions would be a spare battery, tripod, and a case.

My cam got beat up a little too much riding around in the gym bag and is now a little finicky.

Pinnacle is okay, try DVpro.

If going still decide what quality pics you want. I shoot the Canon 10D and that is what I consider entry level professional. Someday, I will own a Canon 1Ds (when they get 10 frames a second and a 36 frame burst rate!
