Digital Cameras

I'm looking to pick up a last minute Xmas present for Mrs. Pennypacker in the form of a digital camera. I've done research on the net and have gathered some decent info, but I always like to hear about personal experiences. I'm hearing Sony and Nikon are making good products these days.

I'm looking for the best combination of quality and simplicity that I can find.

Any thoughts, homos?

Most digis are going to have delay of about 1 to 1.5 seconds on pics. The High end Nikon/Epson SLR models have no realtime delay but you basically have to be a pro and know your shit.

Yeah... that is the one thing I hate about my camera (but I guess its a prob u can't escape).
The delay is maybe 0.5-1.0 seconds.

I have a Sony Mavica FD-100. Nice cam takes a 60 second movie also and has floppy compatible along w/card slot to hold 100's of pics and can be shown right on TV with simple adapter.

I like the fact you can get floppy's disks and hand em out to anyone w/computer without having to download your cam into their computer.

Its the Sony MVC-FD100.

I do have a digital camcorder that takes nightvision as a toy, rarley use it.

Get the smallest camera that you could find with a decent digital zoom and 4 megapixs. Convenience is key with camera's. Don't worry about bells and whistles like 60 sec vid b/c you can get a camcorder for that if you don't already have one. When I think camera, I would like it to fit in my upper shirt pocket.

I've got one of these as well.

2.1 Megapixel. Great camera, very tought, which is important to me.

I didn't want to buy one of those flimsy ass plastic cameras. I felt they wouldn't hold up when I'm bustin' the groove on the mountain bike. This one is cased in stainless steel and can survive a 6 foot drop on to a hard surface.

I have a 128 MB flash card and the camera will take 600+ pics @ 640 X 480 resolution.

Only negative is the batteries don't last, so if you go with this particular model, buy an extra battery.
