i know this is a nutritional question but i posted it here. we always preach about good nutrition anyway

so why is ion exchanged used more now by most people i see and why is it more expensive? thanks

Protein is protein IMO. Aslong as you get it in, thats all that counts IMO. I like casein best, cuz of digestability and cuz its supposedly time released. Im sure someone will come in here with some "scientific" information on the whole subject hahaha

ion exchange is a form of filtering out impurities
it will usually have less carbs and fat than concentrate
i think for whey the hydrolistate(i spelled that way wrong) and ion exchange are supposed to be the best, but each process seems to have its advantage

Whey Isolates, Ion exchanged and Concentrates are all pretty much the same in regards to absorbtion rate.

Think of proteins like carbs on a GI scale.

Isolate and Ion exchange are Hi GI or quickly absorbed. (Great for Post work-out).

Casein, Egg and Milk Isolate have a longer absorbtion rate. (Great for night time formula and an anti-catabolic mid day shake).
