Dietary Supplements (including chromium)

Which supplements are you currently taking?
I don't take any at the moment but will soon begin taking a daily multi-vitamin and am considering taking chromium.

Will taking chromium supplements whilst trying to bulk interfere with my ability to gain muscle or would it have the positive effect of promoting muscle gain as well as ensuring any fat gain is kept to a minimum?

I don't think much of chromium. I remember taking it for a period of time, a few years ago, and didn't notice a ding-dong thing. Unless you're getting it for free I wouldn't bother shelling out the money for it.

A multi-vitamin is a good idea - and maybe additional vitamin C and E, depending on what kind of diet you're on.

I took a multivitamin and a chromium piccolinate tablet this morning for the first time and noticed that my urine colour has changed from clear to yellow...

I drink more than 4 litres of water each day and have been drinking my usual amount today. The temperature and humidity in Perth is similar to what it has been for the past week. Is it remotely possible that chromium may have some dehydrating effect?

It's likely the multivitamin that is causing the change in color....that's quite common on account of B2 (riboflavin)....it will make your pee flourescent. No need to worry about dehydration.

Thanks for that info. Here I was thinking I had to consume even more water than what I do regularly. :)

Since in this case my yellow urine colour isn't related to dehydration, will my body eventually adapt to the higher levels of B2 to allow my urine colour to return to its normal clear colour?

No but what's wrong with it ?

Also, I always used to use my urine colour as an indication of whether I was hydrated or not. Now, I am unable to do that.
