deprenyl half life??

test-monkey

New member
can you take deprenyl tablets eod? what is the half life? I want to take 2.5mg a day, and have 5mg tablets, but they are to small to cut in half so is it okay to take it eod?

Not sure about the half life, I'll try to find that for you. But, yes , you can take it eod. I have seen some recomendations for that. It depends on your age, but the most highly recommend dosage for someone my age (39) is 1 mg/ed. The way to take 1 mg/ed is taking deprenyl citrate (liquid: 1 drop = 1 mg). The tabs you have are selegeline(depreyl) hcl @ 5 mg. If I had those, I would probably take them as you said, 1/2 tab eod or maybe just 3 days/week like MWF.

the half life is rather short, ed dosing is better

so would taking it eod be a waste or will it fuck me up? i'm only 26 so i can't take 5mg a day that's too much, and like I said these are hard to break.

I think 2.5mg at once is overkill for somebody 26 ... not that it would be likely to fuck you up but ... you might feel overstimulated ... what you really need is the liquid like splitendz said

when you say overstimulated what do you mean? also how fast does Deprenyl take to start feeling it? what kinds of negative side effects can I get by over doing it?

The half-life of deprenyl in the body is only a few hours; but once it enters the brain, its effects are very long-lasting. The half-life of MAO-B inhibition in humans has been measured to be about 40 days, therefore, deprenyl probably need not be taken daily by persons who do not have a neurological disease.

thanks bro K for you, so would 5mg a day really be over kill? I tried breaking these tablets in half and they are tough and don't break even. I guess I should start looking for the liquid.

Yeah, probably best to find the liquid. 5 mg/ed for someone your age is not only overkill, but could possibly be a little risky. Deprenyl is a selective mao-b inhibitor, but at higher doses ( depends on many factors what is high dosage to you, but may be as low as 20 or > mg/week), it can become a mao-a inhibitor. At that point you are entering somewhat risky territory (eg. "cheese effect" blood pressure problems). Some people have some side effects from those dosages of deprenyl also, like severe headaches. I have heard those 5 mg tabs could be split in half. Is it scored ?

im 22 bro, i tried other nootropics like piracteam, Inositol, cholin, Huperzine A, and Vinpocetine. but i didnt notice much.
